Phone the police now. The Head doesn't seem to be taking this seriously enough and this is assault. Whatever way you look at it, it's assault. That teacher should be suspended and the Head needs pushing into this. I'm fuming on your behalf!0

Oh what a mess, no wonder you're in bits!
I don't know what to suggest apart from the Police, but I wouldn't have my daughter near that teacher again, that's for sure.
I can't believe you have been told there is nothing anyone can do!
I'm so mad for you :mad:Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Currently on the phone to an NSPCC operator who has gone to talk to her manager about the best course of action for me to follow! She just agreed that it sounds as thought there has been a lot of emotional abuse prior to the physical abuse, fingers crossed for a result!0

There won't be any answer at the LEA until the morning they all go home at 4/4:30 depending on dept. they work council hours!
I would be applying to other schools by now.. and writing to OFSTED (who you can email!) the LEA and the school governors saing why my child was being removed... they have failed in their duty of care and therefore you have no confidence in them and neither does DDLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Not fair to tar everyone in council, pigpen - there should well be some one there until 4.45 or 5 . Council officers work at least 37 hours and my DH has to do unpaid evening and w/e meetings, too.
I feel for you, but do remember there is only 1 more week left and then DD will move classes. Really in my experience you will not get anywhere with schools at this time of year.
My 2 had a very similar teacher in Yr 1. and my DS had a similar one in reception as well - again both older and waiting for retirement, DS won reception teacher around . They had an ofsted inspection and she told the kids to be on best behaviour , after inspector had gone my son looked at her and winked! He never won around yr 1 though, she hated boys! A real dragon and a misery, complaint after complaint was made, year after year, with us all hoping she would go soon, but no she hung on until full pension! They did affect my sunny boy deeply adn I regret not kicking off more, but in reality it is only a week. Do what you can for the kids to come, but I am pretty sure nothing will happen and particularly not at this time of year. This is my experience of schools over the last 13 years.
Edit to add unfortunately. I wish you all the best and wish soemone before my kids had got to school had kicked off enough to get rid of our 2 problems.0 -

Hi, OP. I'm a primary school governor (and a secondary teacher) and ...
1. that is a desperately negative comment to write in her reading book. I would and have complained about that alone
2. the head is paid to "know what to do in that situation" she can't get out of it
3. write to the chair of governors, explaining that you will be contacting ofsted on x date if it is not resolved to your satisfaction.
A hand on a shoulder would be acceptable in a primary setting if the teacher was moving the child to safety or making sure she did as she was asked, but she shouldn't be hurting your child, obv.
Hugs for you and your DDPlease do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
I dont have any advice hun, but I do hope you get it sorted, no child should be made to feel that bad by a teacher whose care she is in :heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0

The offices close at that time and the staff go home.. noone is tarring anyone.. they start at 8:30 and finish at 4-4:30pm here.. they always have done.. and on a Friday they finish at 3:30pm.. though I am aware today is not Friday.. it was a suggestion as to why the OP had been on an unanswered line for so long.. her council might be the same.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I had a similar problem (no physical tho)though my girl was older. I went to the teacher and said "Are you aware how much you frighten my girl? You will get so much more from her with encouragement and praise" I also told her that if she was not enjoying her job she should leave, and that no one should be that miserable on a daily basis.
I spoke to the head who spoke to the teacher and never had anymore problems. It beggars belief that virtualy teachers cannot be sacked. Some of them are worse than useless and we give our most treasured posession to them daily.0
