ESA vent...

To answer your questions
He did not even attempt to reach the floor level as he knows he cannot do it and explained this to the "doctor"
He has had major surgery to remove part of his kidney, has a 15" scar and his muscles have not knit together properly so he has what they call a flank bulge and has to wear a body support to hold his side in.
Diabetes has never stopped him working, he has worked for 35 years was just putting it so a full picture of his health was presented
His mobility is bad enough for him to be on higher rate mobility but if the "doctor" had asked how mobile he was he would have found that out. Instead he just presumed he could walk further than he is able to.
The only reason he has applied for esa is because his employer has decided in his wisdom that my husband cannt do his job and has dismissed him with no reasonable adjustments for him to go back to his job.0 -

look I don't want to argue ... I am just telling you that ESA threshold is very high ... a lot higher than in a lot of cases was the DLA threshhold applied to them ... but now there are moving towrads the same system with DLA ...
the reason for that is very simple in my opinion ... Saturday I saw a guy coming with a motability scooter to a pub ... getting of the scooter ... walking 30 yards ... then walking another 30 yards with a pint of beer ... yes he was walking slowly and he had a stick with him (which he didn't use) ... obviously he does not satisfy the criteria for higher rate DLA (virtually unable to walk or at risk when walking even short distances), but it was given to him ... this guy however is not an exception ... especially people before retirement age put a lot of effort to get higher rate mobility DLA because of the car ...
keep in mind that although in theory DLA and ESA are not related ... sometimes DWP revokes DLA based on the ESA descriptor choice ...
and ... reaching the floor level means ... to touch the floor with a finger ... not to kneel or squat ... it is unlikely that a person after abdominal surgery is unable to do it ... anyway ...0 -
who wants to argue? to tell you the truth I have no idea what your on about!!0

the idea is that having higher rate mobility is irrelevant to ESA score, but having 0 point on walking on ESA may result stopping DLA higher rate mobility by DWP ...0 -
So why does it not work the other way round as well?0

She was saying that some mobility scooters have tax discs on them in Southport. I was telling her that a lot of the elderly use mobility scooters some are genuinely disabled whilst there are a lot who just can not be bothered to walk a few yards and use them for convenience which is not quite right.
seeing a drunk elderly guy on a motability scooter, or someone getting out completely normally to Tesco's from a motability car with a blue badge and walking hundreds of metres alone to the shop itself is not something that is an exception these days ...
and the people that are genuinly disabled have to know that they suffer, because of these guys playing with the system ... the governement has no choice at the moment ... no money ... too much debt ... they will just conduct more and more spend-cutting exercises ...0 -
It actually pi**es me off with people with the blue badge, I look at them when they park in the supermarkets, then they walk the size of a football pitch, what is that all about??
This is all about benefit fraud.
In the case described above if her husband is usually able to walk 50 yards, which is likely considering the 0 points for walking on ESA, he is commiting benefit fraud with the higher rate mobility as well ...0 -

If I could get out of this chair and walk by god I would. As it stands (wrong wording
) I cannot walk at all. I do not understand these people that do not want to help themselves. I would give up everything to be able to work again, because I found it interesting and fulfilling to do so. It is what the majority of people recognise you for, it is awful not to be part of normally everyday life.
I suppose that know you have better understanding why so many people are so nervous regarding medicals. In your case you have nothing to hide ... but there are a lot of other cases ...0 -
What I was meaning was if you get 0 points on esa for walking it may result stopping dla higher rate.. why does that not equate to higher rate dla for mobility = 15 points on esa.
my husband would love to go back to his job but they dismissed him due to ill health and capability.. he is not work shy or a benefit fraud either!!0
