king size mattress foam / sprung HELPPPPP

thought I had found a dencent pocket sprung 1400 Airsrpung yesterday for £300 with a removeable topper filled full of wool. Thought it was nice and comfy and the wool topper was a good idea.
But then I search on Airsprung and it doesn't seem to be a very good make????????
Or a Easy Sleep - Sovereign memory foam pocket sprung for £300. Which doesn't come up under google.
Any thoughts?

I really do not appreciate your unfounded remarks above. If you are going to critique my products and ultimately pass on a degree of informed comment then please do so with some measure of integrity and well founded objection.
Your comments above are completely unjustified and totally unprofessional and I require an open apology.

You know as well as I do that you can't compare reflex foam to memory foam. And to do so on you web site is misleading. You give out a lot of helpful advice, which makes people trust you, and then you compare two completely different types of foam, that give two completely different levels of support.0 -
Can anyone help me find a suitable mattress for my parents. They are both elderly and my mum has had both hips replaced and has curvature of the spine, and she has for many years only been able to sleep on her right side and is unable to move/turn over during the night. Her current mattress is now 10 years old and she recently slept on sprung & memory foam mattress and had her best nights sleep in years. So we are looking for a mattress that doesn't need turning over as they are not physically able to but would like one that gives as much comfort as possible, however they are restricted to the amount they can afford, which is £400 (but we can contribute to the cost if its a little more if necessary). We looked in stores today and found a Relyon Memory Revolution 1250 for £400, can anyone let us know if this a good mattress or what spec would be best for us to get.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks x0 -

It seems that you have (like most people) got the wrong idea of what a non turn mattress is. They haven't done anything to the internal components of the mattress to make it last longer than any other mattress if you don't turn it. So if you were to get a two sided mattress, and they only turned it over when you or someone else was there to help them, then this would considerably extend the life of the mattress.
If you take a two sided mattress, and never turn it over, then it will probably last just as long as a non turn mattress.
Relyon aren't as good as they used to be. In fact I heard from someone very recently who bought two of their pocket sprung mattresses, and both of them only lasted six weeks.
If I were you I would stay away from big brand names and big chain stores if you want good quality at a low price, and shop on line from a seller who gives a proper satisfaction guarantee that allows you to actually unpack and sleep on the mattress. This way it is in their interest to make sure that you make the right choice the first time.0 -
having started this thread, i am still looking for a mattress!
Any thoughts on either of these two?
5ft Sweet Dreams Ultra Health Mattress £329.99
The main features of this mattress are:
- Aloe Vera Cover
- 7cm layer of visco elastic memory foam
- 2000 pocketed springs (all spring counts are based on a 5' size matttress)
- Non turn
- Side handles & vents
- Medium feel
- 5 year warranty
On simply mattress website
Restapocket 1400 £449 by rest assured
1400 Pocket Springs (in 5')

Or am I still way off the mark in finding a reasonable mattress?
Many thanks Karen0 -

I'm afraid you are still way off the mark.
Sweet Dreams are middle low to middle as far as quality goes.- Aloe Vera is just a gimmick
- 7cm of memory foam is ok, but will be very warm, you would be best sticking to 5cm.
- 2000 pocket springs is really too high, as the springs have to be very small to fit them all in, and can get damaged very easily.
- A non turn mattress won't last anywhere near as long as a two sided one.
- A 5 year warranty is not a 5 year guarantee. When you see a longer warranty, it is usually on a sliding scale. All products must have a design life. So for example if something has a design life of 5 years, and develops a fault due to materials or workmanship after 4 years, then the manufacturer must pay towards the cost of replacement or repair. But you would have to pay 80% plus delivery. So when manufacturers give a 5 year warranty, then they are only doing what they are obliged to do by law, but they are using it as a sales gimmick. See their terms and conditions for details.

I have my wish list of points kindly supplied by Tim's many threads on MSE, but cannot find a mattress that meets even most of the criteria. Ring companies up and they either dont know or cannot be bothered to tell you the information.
I really really need a new mattress. So any one out there who has recently got a new mattress and would like to share make, cost and supplier so that I can be dead cheeky and just copy you! Would like a pocket sprung one with some memory foam on top.
Many many thanks in advance!!!!!0 -
