king size mattress foam / sprung HELPPPPP

I know there are loads of mattress threads on here, but my brain is boggled with reading all the advice. My poor husband keeps hurting his back on our lovely silentnight which hasn't lasted very long, but warranty isn't worth claiming under and I lost receipt.

Basically I want to spend as little as possible ... don't we all! Up to £300??

Would like the best quality pocket sprung with memory foam on top that I can get for my money. All the ones I keep getting excited about I then see are reflex foam which everyone says is not a good idea.

Can anyone suggest any which would come within budget?

You won't get a good quality pocket sprung and memory foam mattress for £300.

You would be better off with just a good pocket sprung mattress.

What type of base is it going on?

Thanks for the advice, How much should I expect to spend for a pocket sprung memory foam then?

It is going on a slatted wooden bed frame.

I never realised mattresses were so complicated.

You never said what size?

You could probably just scrape a single sided 1000 pocket sprung + memory foam with £300. Something like this:

Classic Memory 1000 £329
1000 Individual pocket sprung mattress with 50mm of memory foam to provide optimum support and a layer of heat and pressure sensitive memory foam enhances the sleep experience

That's not a good quality one. It contains reflex foam encapsulated pocket springs. And I assume by the fact that they haven't stated the density of the memory foam, that it is probably low. So you would be better off with a good pocket sprung only mattress.

They had a display in my local shopping centre until recently. They seemed quite comfortable. By the time I got round to going to look seriously they had moved the display.

They are low quality reflex foam and memory foam mattresses (you can tell they are low quality because they come vacuum packed). They don't mention the depth or the density of the memory foam (which are both important).
Reflex foam and memory foam mattresses can be very hot and sweaty, and don't give as good support as those containing pocket springs (even pocket sprung only mattresses).

This one may not be, but it's difficult to be sure. However as I keep telling you, you need to stay away from the big retailers. The Bed Shed are part of the Steinhoff group, which as you can see here includes the very expensive (and with poor customer service), Bensons and Sleepmasters:

They also own Relyon, who actually used to be a good brand. But it appears they no longer are. I actually spoke to someone yesterday who bought two single Relyon mattresses that cost her £800 and lated 7 weeks. Now one faulty spring unit is unfortunate, but to get two is terrible. I'm hearing similar stories all the time:

So the chances are that the mattress is a low quality, and low spec mattress made by Relyon. They don't even mention the density or depth of the memory foam.
