No! Nothing to see here - now move along :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:"Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so that stupid people won't be offended.0 -
There may be handbags at dawn shortly when I finish typing on this thread... it appears I touched a nerve eh?
It is an open forum, in which I am allowed my opinion... and my opinion is based on what you said, I didn't just pluck it out of the sky! I haven't come to your home and inspected your dogs, evaluated your lifestyle and then formed an opinion of you- it is all based on your evidence.
Your dog does not need to have a first 'proper season' without being speyed at all, so why you think this I don't know- especially if you have all these great books and have done all this research. I'm sure your vet friend could have told you this.
However, I am not going to have this debate with an anonomous person who has come for advice on one single thread in her time at MSE (see, even that is an assumption- you could be a chap for all I know). I think I will bow out of this one and leave you to get the selective advice you clearly want.
As I said, good luck to you and the dog and good luck with caring for the remaining two. The one thing I will say is get your partner to give ALL the dogs a check-up (I am sure the poor older dog needs one as much as the others).0 -
hmmm.. my personal feeling, is right or wrong, some people do decide to rehome their dog - sometimes for reasons we may agree with, othertimes for reasons we may see as avoidable - however, if they have reached that decision I would rather they ask for help in doing it than not - maybe it is best for the dog if we try and assist their owner in finding somewhere for the dog to go, rather than expressing our personal judgements on their circumstances...
However, realistically rehoming this girl will not be easy and will take some time.0
