I'm not missing the point Ames, I'm seriously annoyed that someone I get on with has felt the need to leave the forum because of trolls, but I'm saying that it would make more sense to start a thread on site feedback or forum rules where MSE will actually read them and might react or at least respond.

Because if I was a new poster right now and was reading all these threads about how awful it is and how much abuse there is, it might just put me off posting for the first time and asking for help.

    Hi all

I do think Tixy does have a valid point and good way of voicing it. I think everyone's sentiments are the same and feel it is awful that Niddy has felt the need to leave.

Ames I will go and comment on your thread inthe feedback site.

Dont why people are surprised the Site Admin didnt step in , tens of posters have private message them over the last few montsh to make the UE Threads stickied , but they never even responded

Strange , that in all Martins obvious good work , he does like to preach about `consumer revenge` and `getting your own back on the banks` re : Missold PPI etc , but when it comes to the UE route , they are DEAFININGLT SILENT.....even though surley , there isnt a better `consumer revenge` tool out there...

George, sometimes I think it's the huggiest forums that suffer the most from trolls, just one nasty person can worm their way in and then do a lot of damage. Especially since huggy ones tend to have the most vulnerable people on them.

I agree with everything you said, but I think all the forums are getting worse. DFW might be the worst hit at the mo, but the others are going downhill too. There was a self confessed troll on DT, and it took a few days before he was PPR'd, despite him admitting and boasting about it.

I just worry that before long it'll be too late, and all they'll be able to do is shut the stable door when all the thoroughbreds have left.

This forum doesn't have moderators - for specific legal reasons.

There are only a small number of board guides but these people are just to help with the smooth running of the boards and are all long standing members (much longer than Niddy had been on the boards) - most have been around since 2003 / 2004 time. They don't actually specifically deal with abuse.
Like it or not what Niddy specialised in was a fairly controversial topic for many posters on MSE (particularly away from DFW) and I would imagine would make it very unlikely they would have chosen him as a board guide.

Maybe nobody from MSE has commented as all the threads on the subject and people discussing it have been on the pure money boards - nothing on the site feedback section or forum rules section.

I really think if people want to comment further perhaps start a thread over there. DFW needs to remain focused on doing what it has always done and posting help and support for each other. By so many posts on this subject taking out attention away from everything else it seems to me we are letting the trolls win.

If everything dies down and the trolls 'troll off' niddy may well come back in time.

Hi all, Thanks to all the people who have posted. I didn't mean to start a Fire Storm, I just wanted to express my feelings about someone I considered a very good mate, leaving because of the abuse he was receiving. I also thought if there was any abusers out there they could have a go at me, if it meant leaving someone else alone.

I know Niddy's thread is contraversial. But some for some people it is the only option left to them. For those who say it is a get out of jail card for those who won't pay, I have on many occasions seen the options spelled out to them as to why it wouldn't be the best idea.
Indeed what about the companies springing up offering to check weather or not your loan or cards are unenforcable. They don't tell you what it will do for your credit rating, they are only interested in the fee.

Please lets not fall out, or over debate this. I for one see nothing wrong in how the forum works or is moderated.

Please Listen to Tixy, lets get back to normal. Post thanks to Niddy here if you want. Lets let him know how much he was appreciated.

But Please Please Please, lets not fall out amongst ourselves, I could never forgive myself if I thought I was doing the Trolls work for them.

My warmest regards to you all, handy

Totally agree Handy, especially about UE. I've seen before people who were suckered in by the cowboy firms posting on here about how they now have a wrecked credit file.

Then there's people like me where it meant I avoided bankruptcy, and so the creditors who bothered to stay within the law still get something.

Then there's everyone in between. UE is just another tool in the DFW box - let's face it, the creditors have far more tools than we do.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
