Very sad news, one of the most knowledgeable posters we had. Trolls are going to continue to be a problem as the board gets bigger - I don't see how to stop it though.

  • I've always felt a bit guilty reading posts on the DFW board as people are suffering genuine hardship and I just owe a couple of thousand which I'm having no trouble repaying.
One of the reasons I do surf this board is because there are some fantastically helpful people and I'm always impressed by the advice people give.
Niddy is one of the people who I've been gobsmacked by, the level of detail and the effort they've put in to helping people is amazing and I'm truly appalled that they've been driven away by petty, small minded people who probably wouldn't say boo to a goose in real life.
Come back niddy with a different name and start again....please;)

What MSE needs like on a lot of other forums, until you hit 5 - 10 posts your posts have to get reviewed by a moderator before they can be seen by everyone else.

This prevents a lot of trolls from attacking I moderate a lot of cooking forums and this is what we do.

It really is a sad state of affairs :(

Nidy you have helped me in a lot of my posts always there to offer andvice and a friendly word I for one thank you for this and wish you well in the future, I do hope we see you again on these forums.............

This place is desperate for a "real" moderation team that work on a full time basis, sure we have some excellent board guides but at no stage throughout the day should the forum be left un-moderated.

I am a member of a few "big" communities and have to say this by far is the most "lax" when it come to moderation.

All the best Nidy and thanks ;)

I am very fortunate in that I paid off most of my debts some years ago, and have never posted on one of NID's threads, but have read some of his posts, and been impressed by his knowledge, and moved by the way in which he has helped some very desperate people.

I am not a paranoid person by any means, but I do worry that there is something going on here other than some saddo with spots and greasy hair who spends too much time in his bedroom (which is how I always think of trolls / abusive posters). NID didn't seem the sort to be pushed around by people like that. It must be said that his methods were, in the very best of ways, a bit subversive, and he must have rattled a few cages in his time. I hope I am wrong, and it really is just some immature idiot who hacked him off.

I do think that the MSE team should at least acknowledge this issue. Perhaps NID's methods might have been a bit far out for them, which might explain the deafening silence so far? Again, I hope I am wrong, on both counts.

Thanks to someone who has probably been a lifeline (literally) to some individuals who have been in a very dark place.

Of Course, SEO and marketing people look to spam boards all sorts of different ones, and trolls are just interested in posting wherever they can to be seen.
