Message to Niddy, Trolls are you Ard Enough

This forum doesn't have moderators - for specific legal reasons.

There are only a small number of board guides but these people are just to help with the smooth running of the boards and are all long standing members (much longer than Niddy had been on the boards) - most have been around since 2003 / 2004 time. They don't actually specifically deal with abuse.
Like it or not what Niddy specialised in was a fairly controversial topic for many posters on MSE (particularly away from DFW) and I would imagine would make it very unlikely they would have chosen him as a board guide.

Maybe nobody from MSE has commented as all the threads on the subject and people discussing it have been on the pure money boards - nothing on the site feedback section or forum rules section.

I really think if people want to comment further perhaps start a thread over there. DFW needs to remain focused on doing what it has always done and posting help and support for each other. By so many posts on this subject taking out attention away from everything else it seems to me we are letting the trolls win.

If everything dies down and the trolls 'troll off' niddy may well come back in time.

How we will all miss nid and me just starting othe ue route never min d ill do it. Nid is (not was) an asset to all of us.plus a mate to chat to but he knows his wants best.

Am gutted by this news. I only recently discovered Niddy's thread, but the info there was spot on and the guy obviously knew his stuff, and to have given so many people so much help both in and out of the forums. Someone should nominate him for an M.B.E.
Trolls are just that, irritating little individuals who feed on reactions.
Scumbags doesnt describe it adequately.
And i say M.B.E. because that stands for My Bl***y Effort, and the effort and help that Niddy gave was all his own.
O.B.E is Other Barstewards Efforts, which is what trolls resort to when they see someone who cares genuinely enough to want to help OP's.
I say Niddy for Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Seriously though Niddy, you will be welcomed with open arms, a lot of people will miss you and miss out on your expertise till you decide to grace the forum with your presence. Take care friend, I, as we all do, wait patiently for the day that you feel able to return.

Sorry Tixy but to me that sounds like one hellova guy and i'm glad I know him, i'm proud to say I know him and best of all i'm glad he's not retaliated to the nasty comments and instead walked away with his head held high.

This is a travesty, and your remarks about unenforceability not being what this forum is about is way off the mark. Above the header at the top it cleary reads "consumer revenge".

I reiterate, I am not a new poster, I have been here for several years but wish at this time to remain anonymouse.

I am in no way jealous of any attention on Niddy. Niddy knows that full well.

I also did not say that unenforceability is not what this forum is about. What I said is that there are a lot of people on the forums who are against it, which is why they wouldn't have made Niddy a board guide. There is no point having a board guide who is facing a daily barrage of abuse, it simply stops them being able to do their work on the forum.

DFW board is about more than unenforceability and to lose focus on helping new people is a real shame. Niddys threads have helped a lot of people but that doesn't mean they are the answer for everyone or that his threads have to stop helping people now.

Tixy, I think you're missing the point. Trolls have got a lot worse and more numerous lately and it's affecting a lot of people. Some very experienced people nearly left a few months ago, and now it's happening again - but this time they're really going. These forums rely on people sharing their knowledge and experience. If the ones who have the most of that leave, then it's going to be a shambles.

It's not just about one poster, it's about how the forums are rapidly going downhill all round, while the powers that be pretend to be Nero.

I'm not missing the point Ames, I'm seriously annoyed that someone I get on with has felt the need to leave the forum because of trolls, but I'm saying that it would make more sense to start a thread on site feedback or forum rules where MSE will actually read them and might react or at least respond.

Because if I was a new poster right now and was reading all these threads about how awful it is and how much abuse there is, it might just put me off posting for the first time and asking for help.

Is he ok with having his e-mail addy in the other forum, I'd hate to think of him being spammed or getting sent a load of hate mail.

I've started a thread on the site feedback forum, it'd be good if people could have a quick look at it and let me know if I'm overreacting or whatever.

Identity, one of the last posts of Niddy's I cought in real time was him saying he'd be around till 6.30am trollzapping, I think that just summed him up.
