hi again, i am thinking of doing the offer this year and maybe going toLa Croix de Vieux Pont france, i did some searching and read its lovely there. i also read on sun's website that they do a deal for £25 pp which includes ferry crossing. my question is- do you take your car or is that just ferry crossing then you get train or something down to paris? sounds very cheap for a few days abroad. i'd be greatful for any info from anyone who's been.have now given up smoking since feb 13th 2014 loving the money I'm saving0

I am not sure on the offer but I would recommend the resort, we went in May. It is really lovely. You could stay at the resort and still be happy IMO. The lake and beach are nice.
We had a few hours drive from Calais. I would say that the resort was further away from Paris than I thought it would be.
There is a coach into Paris for 20 Euros once a week, Tuesdays I think. I would have paid that to avoid the hassle. We were only there for a long weekend. We drove part of the way and then got the Metro. This was on the recommendation of the rep. I cannot remember the name of the place but I have it written down somewhere. I can dig it out if you want more info.0 -
My brother has just come back from a Sun holiday to Pontins (Brean) and hated every moment of it, decor was 70's/80's everything was insanely expensive, and full off chav type couples that let their kids do whatever they wanted while they drank in the bar, there was also nothing for their youngest to do more geared towards kids of 6 and over. They also paid £45 (I think) for an entertainment pass that seemed to have no meaning, was never asked for and he said aside from some kids shows in the day entertainment was non-existent.
One thing though he did say Brean was really nice itself just would never go to Pontins ever again. I'm not saying all this to rubbish the post or Sun holidays just be warned, oh one other thing, they had a letter a week before they went stating they needed to pay an extra £80! They also didn't receive any paper work about check-in times etc, so when they arrived at 12:30pm and were told check-in wasn't until 4pm!!!! You can understand their frustrations at Sun holidays and Pontins! You also have to pay for bedding too, all extra hidden costs people should be made aware of.
Anyway, that's my morning rant over, where's me coffee!!0 -
Has anyone received a priority code yet? I normally get one posted out to me but haven't as yet but doubt that i would use it.
I have had a couple of lovely breaks and i think they are great value. I went to Skegness Butlins at Feb half term and that was excellent, although very busy, but kids had an excellent time, i hardly spent anything- took my own food.
I also went to Haven Hafan y Mor last October and that also was lovely, had a great time exploring.
I think you need to ask yourself what you are paying for cos the majority of camps you can refuse to buy the passes- they only benefit you if you are going to use the swimming and entertainment and you can take your own linen- although i took my own to Haven and they provided it anyway.
I'm interested in the Croix de vieux- has anyone been there without driving?0 -
you would need to hire a car or could possibly use trains and a taxi, but much easier to drive!
La Croix is lovely and we have been 3 times with the SUN,saving lots of £££s in the process!
Not received my priority code yet
The "extra" costs are not hidden, god it's frustrating when people don't read / do their homework!
The prices for service charge / entertainments passes etc are clearly stated on the website and in the brochure!
you can of course not bother with the passes or the linen,to bring the cost down
also always see how much it will be to book direct ( esp in term time) as that's another whinge on here, people who find out AFTER booking, they could have gotten it cheaper by booking direct
and check out reviews on www.tripadvisor.com too !
