his point is...if I can spell it out...!

if there are 45000 people ACTIVELY SEEKING WORK (and declaring this every fortnight)...why are there 18000 VACANCIES for employment.

there should be 27000 people actively seeking work.

it takes time and effort to give someone a job and when youve 3000 odd people applying for the same postion you cant just give it to the first person

I know all about 3000 people applying for one position, am opening a brand new facility, had 3000 applications and the rest.

I think you are missing the general point.

There are 45000 unemployed and a staggering 18000 vacancies, that is 40% if my mental arithmetic is still working at 1246.am. So we can cut the dole queue in your area tomorrow by 40% if some of the people claiming benefits take the jobs that are available.

Now, believe me, I do believe that someone who has 20 years managerial experience and ends up redundant will need time to get the right job at the rightful level and their whole CV should not suffer. There is no way, I would, with an MBA go back to minimum wage job, but then I dont need to as I can support myself. On the other hand, if all these jobs and unemployed are not correlated somewhat, and the jobs are low paid but the unemployed are high skilled - then it is down to those who want the higher paying jobs, to move to where the work is and apply further afield. But I would expect from 45000 people, they can fill 18000 jobs without too much difficulty - unless they are happy on benefits that is and dont want to work.

you quick to blame those on the dole queue but its not as easy as just saying yeah we will give the 18000 jobs to the people that apply it takes weeks months even to wittle them down to the right candidate its not a case of oh they cant be bothered to work
but then theres still a shortfall

    Are you reading my posts.

I am not quick to blame the dole queue!!!!

It does not take weeks and months to whttle people down . I whittled down within a week. I had new managers start yesterday, whittle down I dont know how many CVs, schedule interviews, and be ready to offer more jobs by friday. We do not all work at the speed of a snail. I have hired 400 people in a matter of weeks before now.

I am making the point, that quoting YOUR statistics, not mine, there is a problem, we have a pipeline of 18000 jobs. Not all those jobs appeared yesterday did they. Some are in the pipeline being whittled down.

We also have a pipeline of 45000 unemployed persons.

Now, in a month, let me know those figures again, and we can assess the pipeline. Unfortunately, neither of us knows if they are the same 18000 jobs or 45000 applicants. The point is TODAY there are 18000 jobs to be filled and TODAY there are 45000 applicants.

in respect some of those 18000 jobs are for recruitment agencies
and and arent actual permenant jobs but i do understand where you are coming from

yes but unless recruitment agencies are creating temporary posts in their own businesses, which of course they are not, they are short term placements in other companies....then they are jobs, which require fulfilling, in other organisations in the area, and which mean people do not have to claim benefits. Even for a day/week/month is irrelevant, there is work there for 40% of the people unemployed on this given day, and that is before the jobs which are not actually advertised. That is the state of the Economy.

Crikey, if Messrs Cameron and Clegg and Milliband could wave a wand and reduce unemployment by 40%, that easily - they would do. And that is achievable. yes, our attitudes to work might have to change again, but then they have completely changed in the last generation, I last 2-5 years in a job, before I progress to better things - whereas my father thought 20-40yrs was the norm.

Thanks for that, its so much better to sweep a problem under the carpet than show it the light dont you think!

You missed the point completely, with my blog I hope to give people the chance to air their concerns and perhaps get valuable advice or perhaps even not feel so alone. Unemployment especially Long Term unemployment can be very isolating. People suffer severe depression because WRONGLY and I cant say this loud enough, they THINK THEIR SELF WORTH, PERSONAL VALUE IS ALL ABOUT HAVING A JOB! Its !!!!!!!!.

I just want to provide support a chance to have a voice against the hoards of frankly stupid people who say there are plenty of jobs out there as if one cloth fits all!! Some people need help to get into work, once they are in work and benefit from mentoring and support which they may never have had in their lives and wouldnt it be aweful all you nay sayers in this discussion if instead of kicking people when they are down we actually looked to help them!

There are of course some kind and insiteful posters in this discussion, but Im apauled at some of the prejudice and lack of intelligence.

And wouldnt it be aweful jamespir if for example Vodaphone whom you probably respect were made to pay this years tax bill of 8 Billion (not the 1 Billion HRMC settled for!, let alone last years bill) Imagine all that money not just from Vodaphone but from all those global companies that dont pay their tax bills and some of that money going into training, mentoring improving services for us all! But no lets respect the real rapists of this country and then look at unemployed as lazy useless people..now that makes sense.

Why is lazy thinking so attractive?
  • By the way can i post the name of my blog here or is that against the rules, or just rude?

    Thank you x
