  • It counts for reward accounts too, but you need to pay in £1000 per month, and its £300 not £500

My statement is out, called up to enquire on the £5 reward.

Just to let everyone know that the £5 reward is paid in arrears.

So you fulfil all the conditions for getting the reward (£300 min spend in Clarity credit card statement, Reward Current Account+£1000 deposit/Ultimate Current Account), you will receive your £5 in the next statement. For example, if you fulfil all criteria for £5 reward in Aug's CC statement, £5 will appear in Sept's CC statement.

If you click on your 'Statements' option it should tell you your payment date (which will not apply for this month, presumably) and then you should be able to figure out your statement date, approximately. (This only applies provided you have added the card a/c to your internet banking, of course...)

I have one of the Halifax 2% on all fuel and shopping that they introduced a few years ago.

By applying for the Clarity card is this going to be cancelled as a result as I was still planning to use the 2% fuel & food one as my main one.

When your card arrives, you will need to activate it and only then will you be add it your online list of a/cs.
No, it can be added to your online list of accounts as soon as it's open (by going to 'preferences').

But when you do ring to activate it, be prepared for a long call to an 0870 number. Boy, do they stretch it out.

Long recorded message, followed by the chance to press a button. Another long recorded message (some of it telling you what had just heard) followed by the request to input your 16-digit number. An operator then answers, and asks you your 16-digit number(!!) and a long, laborious set of important questions, one of which is to ask what he should call you.

I suspect they've already got most of my first month's reward off me in phone charges!

I didn't try www.saynoto0870.com, as I assumed it would be the usual brief call to activate it, as I have experienced with other cards. I'll know better next time with Halifax!

Just to confirm that I receive my £5 reward. It is paid the day after the statement date. So, it wasn't wrong that the £5 appears in the next statement, as mentioned below.

    Thanks

The remaining question is what will happen when you usually pay your balance in full by direct debit. Will it take the full balance, or full balance less fiver (the reward).

Will report when the time comes
