    Afternoon all

Been flying really hard the past two days and it is starting to show:D

I got DS1 to help by pulling out an replacing all the furniture in the living room so I could do underneath and behind it all, it hadn't been done for a while:eek:

New neighbours are in the process of moving in one side next door. They have 2 or 3 little kids so there will be much more life there! It has been an elderly couple the whole 10 years we have been here and since the man passed away 18 months ago just the old lady.

Lamewolf/Toots Woody is absolutely fine now thankfully so glad I didn't go to the vet to have my purse decluttered. Thanks for thinking of him.

Time to do dinner as it is open evening at DS3's school tonight. DH is coming home early and meeting us there - handy for him as we will be back in time for the footie;)

DS1 has been choosen as a Year 7 prefect (6th former who is allocated to help the new children in his house during their first year) which is quite an honour (only 12 of them) and also as a young sports ambassador to join the committee for our district (only 5 of them from his school). It means he has to go into school for the new intake day on Thursday and the suit will get another outing in the evening when he has to be present at the Head's address to the new parents :D

    Vibes for cyclingyorkies OHs Dad
natty - just delete the yankee candles mails without reading them, I am. I don't even look on hotukdeals in case I get tempted. In our case paying the mortgage has priority.
Lamewolf/PP - DH did evening classes years ago and we have a forge and anvil, etc. He hasn't done a lot for the last few years (because of his back and work) so lots of playing - keyrings, and pokers etc for now. He made me some lovely plant supports and things last year so hopefully back into that quickly. He and SS1 welded a scrap metal transformer/man yesterday which I love, but they will not let me sell him! He describes himself a as a serial hobbiest which I would agree with. He is busy turning mushrooms out of wood on the lathe tonight which I get to sand later. Very tactile, and should sell well to small children. A couple of years ago he made silver jewellery, and prior to that it was the most lovely watercolour pictures. I wish I had even a tenth of his practical ability, and I hope the boys have inherited some of it.

Metalman is in my Cardoons so he looks small, but he is actually about 90cm tall.

Greenbee - hope the funeral was ok and you and your mother have survived each others company

Work, sports day, sanding, need to make dinner then do some ironing for the morning. DW has been on, but that is it. Shocking how much the standards slip when my hours increase.

ETA - PP, I do the Bob Marley jammin stuff too....... DH thinks I am mad. The blackcurrant we made yesterday is lovely. I am a convert.

Morning all - just checking in before driving lesson - it's parallel parking day :(

In the past 24 hours, I have been called by

    The weekend Bloke :)

The Mad Ex with The Convoluted Lovelife - for moral support because another one of his women has said some quite cruel things about him - the sort of thing that (IMO) wasn't true :D, and even if it were, it would be a sackable offence to say so. I think at the end of the conversation, he may have proposed to me again. But that's just his insecurities making him want to go to the next female around.

    and

The Very Old Friend from Primary School turned up at the music studio to take me out for a drive, a quick half in the pub and a chat about his life and kids and Mrs.

    ?????????????????????????????????????????

What in blue blazes is going on?????
maybe there's something in the air ;)

Brilliant - and great that he's getting back into it all now he's not having to commute

Funeral was lovely - only about 20 people so very relaxed. My mother did lots of pruning and dead heading while I was working this morning, and I took her to the station before she could start annoying me... I've actually managed to do some work today, and am having another go at putting things away in the shed (and taking them out of the utility room) in preparation for the next set of shelves going up (fingers crossed it will be this week :D)

My mother commented on the fact that the house was in need of a little TLC... same problem - too much else to do, but ultimately, that's the important stuff. Housework can wait, as long as it isn't getting into a state that depresses you.

Haven't managed to catch up I'm afraid, and it may be a while before I do at this rate, but hugs & vibes all round...
  • Ugh...gonna cost me a fortune to pass my driving test. Need tons of practice. And at £25 an hour, that's practice that might actually be cheaper to get by buying, taxing and insuring a car of my own - I just have to persuade someone to sit in the car with me.

    I need a husband.

Not for anything else, just for driving practice. :)

    Kitchen done!!:D:D:D

choccybix - wow, what a clever DD and fellow Brownies! I'd love to go to the Hampton Court Show again.

DS2 had 6th form taster morning, another tomorrow, and is possibly thinking of changing some of his choices, depending on results.

My school has had bad news - we were due for our new school build to start in September, and it's been axed. We're all very down.

I've done a couple of hours on the allotment as well.

Helen Jelly - depending on how clear the plot is, you can sow salads, endives, dwarf French beans, herbs such as sorrel and coriander. Look out for winter veg starter plants - try mail order from Marshall's - which you can plant out now for winter and early spring crops. I sow a whole load of salads again in early August, as if we have a nice September and October (and frosts seem to be getting later) then there's still time to crop. Also, in the second half of July you can sow all the oriental veg - pak choi, mizuna, mibuna, mooli, komatsuna etc etc. Don't forget leaf beet, and swiss chard which will crop over winter, and into spring.
Depending on how warm your area is, you can sow broad beans Aquadulce in November, and also plant garlic.
Top tip - start keeping an allotment diary, noting what you did when, sowed when, and also what the crop was like and when you started harvesting. This way, you'll build up a useful guide to your very own plot and your favourite varieties.
If you'd like some more reading, then I can recommend Joy Larkcom's Grow your own Vegetables. No pretty pictures, but one of the best guides you'll find. I also rate Sarah Raven's The Great Vegetable Plot, which has a different take, and is also a very thoughtful guide.

    Love and hugs.

was at Cornhill today - i could have slapped 3 women in the afternoon - they were moaning that they had sat and done nothing - but they didnt want to join in what we awere doing in the morning - they were asked 2/3 times in the afternoon did they want to be pampered or play cards/dominoes/scrabble etc but said no and then when the manager came in they moaned - I was so angry - fortunately the volunteers stuck up for them selves and said they hadn't been interested - why do people come to place like this when they dont want to be involved and there are other people who would jump at the chance?:mad::mad::mad: ungrateful so-in-so's

I'm a bit fed up as DH has been grumpy today. He's improved now and apologised, we're going out for a curry in a bit. I'm extremely tired again and am going to have my bloods checked again for anaemia. DH put the changing table together (moaning all the while that it was not needed), it's a bit shabby (pre loved by a friends 2 kids) but very functional which is all that matters!

The whole place is a mess which is stressing me out, baby's room particularly as we brought loads of stuff home from up north. Once I give the change table a wipe I can move the nappies etc onto it which will create space!

    Sorry for the moan :(
