Well the Postie has been and it's not good news. They haven't awarded me either Mobility or Care. I just don't understand, they have said all the reasons for no award are all the things I said I needed help with!! Guess I will ring up and ask them to send me all the information they had from G.P etc. What next?

Sory to hear that. :( You need to get legal advice. You also need to get as much evidence as you can - fom your GP and anyone else who helps you out in regards to your disability. You may also want to keep a diary which explains what help you need from someone. A week will do.

Also ask for statement of reasons - this will gie you an extra 2 weeks to appeal.

Oldsporty - really sorry to hear your news. I would appeal against this straight away if you feel you do qualify. Get or print off an GL24 form and then write a letter addressing each of the points they have denied you help for. Also include any other evidence you may have. They will do a reconsideration by a different DM as part of the process anyway - so get the appeal in asap - there is a one month deadline from the date of the decision.

Wishing you the best of luck - and a heap of patience - because it may take a while - but worth fighting for if you believe they have made the wrong decision.

    Good Luck x x

Don't ask for a reconsideration - they do this before it goes to appeal anyway.

Many thanks for your advice, I have rung them already and started the appeal process, I have asked to see all the evidence used, GP report and Physio report etc. The woman was very nice and explained to her how devastating it feels to be able bodied and active then become unable to do what should be normal everyday things that you normally just take for granted. Must say I do feel gutted by all of this.

Make sure you still put the appeal request in writing. You do not have to provide all the evidence at that point - but it must be in writing. Be careful that they delay in sending the info through because it will eat into your one month deadline to appeal. Get the GL24 off now and just write that you will be providing your responses in full once you have had time to assess all the information.

    Keep us informed - x
