A question about D.L.A?

Well obviously it depends on how the aids may allow you to be more independent and therefore possibly have less care needs. For instance I have a bath bench and a bath shower attachment which allows me to take care of my personal washing needs. If I didn't have this I would need help in getting in and out of the bath and therefore increased care would be required. I also have a trolley which helps me get things around the house. Personally I'm very grateful that these aids help me live more independently.

The assessment will be done on whether you are able to the complete tasks (as specified in the form) with reasonable use of aids. My biggest problem is in fact shopping and cleaning...... neither of which are taken into consideration (I'm on crutches (also aids) and have a limitation in my arms due to lymphoedema in both).

Just my opinion - but because you have already told them on the phone i would send a copy of the letter - they already know about it now after your call, so its best to make sure they get the correct information, rather than chancing the message getting passed back to the DM and the info being wrong or distorted.

Communication in any large organistaion is often subject to being 'lost in translation' - if it were me i'd rather the DM see the letter itself.

Many thanks to you all. I sent the letter in yesterday just so they have something in writing to add to the paperwork!! I will let you all know when I have any news from them! Its been so long since the 19th of March, when I sent it in, that I am not very hopeful but we shall see!!

Hello all, I said I would update everyone and today I rang the DWP to ask if they had received the Drs. report. Gentlemen told me that a decision had been made yesterday and a letter went out to me this morning :eek: ! However I asked him if he could tell me the decision and he said he was unable to because something about the customer being the first to know or something like that, as there was background noise and I missed what he said. I Should have asked him to repeat himself but wasn't on the ball enough to ask him. Now, are there any thoughts on him not telling me as it was unsuccessful or has anyone had decisions revealed over the phone?

Thanks soxs! Yes, I have been waiting every morning for the postman and then disappointed. Someone on here said that sometimes the money hits your account before you receive a letter so have also been checking bank account every morning but to no avail. I first rang for the forms in March so it has been a long time, I don't have a good feeling about it either, no reason to feel that way really but just a gut feeling. I think listening to people on here who so deserve it and being turned down hasn't helped. Well will certainly let you know, my luck I won't get the letter tomorrow and will have to wait till Monday!!

Thanks ash, do you think if I rang again they would tell me? They might get annoyed at me though, I am supposing they log our calls to them! It seems silly to be so impatient but to know there is a decision and not know the outcome is so frustrating!!

They will not tell you over the telephone.

Oh, okay thank you, I thought I read on here that some people do get their decisions over the phone. whats that thing about patience and virtue!!
