A question about D.L.A?

Hi, I am new to this so please be gentle!! I have a claim in for D.L.A and so far have had one letter saying they were contacting my Physio for a report and 2 weeks after that and them receiving this they then wrote saying they were requesting a report from my GP. I rang up on Friday and they haven't received his report yet. I was assessed by Social Services 2 weeks ago and am having various aids to help me and when I rang DWP on Friday I asked if I should send them a copy of the letter from Social Services detailing what I was having. The Lady on the phone said I could tell her and she would pass the information on. Do you think I should still send in a copy of the letter? Thank you.

If she has said she will pass on the details then I`d leave it at that tbh

Thank you both, do you think the DM will see the aids as more proof of my problems or will He/She say because they (aids) help with some aspects of my needs that I am not entitled to DLA?

Dont bother. They dont need a list so long as you have detailed it in your claim.

In the claim form there is space to list any aids you use, thats all they need.

Yes, I remember that it was on the form but I sent my form in to DWP in March and was only assessed by Social Services 2 weeks ago hence my wondering whether to send in the letter stating what they are supplying me with.

If the aids help they're likely to see it as a help to your day to day needs and therefore an improvement in your condition.

Many people who use aids (in general) find they either need help with the aid or find they need help alongsid using the aid.

Sadly, DLA are still likely to see it as an improvement in condition.:(

    That's very true sh1305.
For my hubby's epilepsy putting the cushions on the floor by the bed is great for if he falls out of bed during a seizure but useless to try and navigate your way round the room as you trip over them.

Also someone told us when you have a bath, wrap the plug chain round your tow, that way if you have a seizure, the plug will fly out. But a bath takes a heck of a time to empty, time enough for you to drown...
