I'm convinced that decluttering actually increases the amount of clutter you have....well that's what has happened here!
I think I should celebrate your 40th with you - mine was spent having a big op! Mind you, best birthday present I've ever had as felt fab ever since. Probably not something I'd wish on everyone though!!!
Think I'm going to declutter 100 things a day. That means I have to remove it from the house rather than just move it somewhere else. Now....where to start!0 -
Mudbath for the initial quick declutter I used the box/bag method. e.g. Bags/boxes for throw, recycle, charity, sell - the keep's you put back in place. Then there's the maybe box/bag!!! For me at least when I wanted to get rid of stuff very quickly if you spend ages pondering over an item it slows everything down - so if it takes more than a few seconds to decide, put in the maybe box. OK it will take time to get through later, but for me it worked, also it's better than putting them back in the cupboard with the keeps, where you'd need to go through it all again. It does mean you get through the majority quickly.
Yes it does get messier before it gets better!!!0 -
Se999 - oooh I like your system! That's a must today! Thank you. I've been decluttering on and off for two years:rotfl:. If you looked at my house you'd think there was nothing to declutter but when you look in drawers and cupboards you see all the ornaments/bits and bobs/keep sakes that I've never quite got rid of. Using your system I'm going to do the bottom of my wardrobe. It's full of gibble including three hardly used riding hats, two back protectors, three pairs of curtains, 24 rolls of christmas wrapping paper....need I go on!0

Wow, 4 weeks Hypno! Excellent fun, what a mission to have

Is this the time to confess that last year we couldn't find our Christmas tree??
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: My parents had it when they first got married (they've been divorced 28 years! :rotfl:) and I inherited it (because nobody else wanted it
). Mr Daffs didn't like it... and I think I *might* in a moment of madness agreed to get rid of it a couple of years ago, but I can't remember!
Anyway, we had 'mystic branch' cereomiously cut from the woods instead

Morning, all. Having just been on the end of a tirade from him indoors about "all the stuff in this cupboard that you never do anything with" - nice of him to call me at work - I believe my decluttering plans will have to come forward or be condensed.
So I will be joining you all in the great declutter on my return home as I can't really do a lot about it from here. Well, apart from sulk:rotfl:‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Sulking is a much under-rated hobby, enjoy

Yep, a good sulk can get it all over with in one go - hope you feel energised by it all!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Evening all - hope you have had a good day. I am really tired - I think the lack of weekend sleep, and the dark mornings and evenings have all contributed to the fact that I just can't stop yawning!
So, perhaps decluttering goes on hold for tonight. I will watch the football on the telly with my fleecy blanket instead.

Sounds like a plan - I definitely need an early night too!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
