I can really see that progress in this diary! Even though things are tight still - it doesn't seem so frantic or even negative compared to everything that you dealt with in the old diaries. As you said today - not being paid was a minor annoyance rather than a massive drama as it would previously have been.

To quote from one my faviourite alblum titles: You've come a long way baby!

Am going to head to bed to chill out - I am still sooooo tired after the busy and awful weekend. Am so grateful that the coming weekend will have a bit of slack in it and OH and I can have some 'us' time.

    Waving to you all!

  • I think that I am becoming really chatty - but here I am stuck without anybody to talk to (official stuff excluded).

Hypno, you mentined that this time you are not thinking about weight and this is the main difference. According to the Law of Attraction one attracts whta one thinks and talks about - so thinking about weight attracts more weight. According to these people one should think lightless and good shape if one is to lose it; or come up with a particular weight they want to be. So instead if thinking weight one thinks specific weight which is far below what one is.

Thought I'd share - and well worth trying all who find hard losing. Only thinking about it doesn't make you lose though; what makes you lose is the desire to reach the weight you have set as desired.

Absolutely, firewalker - I def agree and it is that shift in thinking that has made a difference to me in so many areas recently.

Payday has arrived, so I can do my budgets and envelopes in the course of the day. I do have my house insurance due this month, which I do in one go, and I haven't put money away for it, but there is enough in my pay this month to clear it in one go again. From next month, a standing order has been created to make a monthly saving for it so that the cash is there this time next year.

I also have DS' birthday, and a busy month skiwise, so will be making sure there is enough to get through without the need to use my credit card. I have been using the CC for "cash flow" reasons, but actually I don't want to do that, I want to work with the cash that I have, when I have it, so I am going to lock the CCs away once and for all.

Right, off to scratch.....happy Friday everyone x

I do use them and pay them off, so it is not like days of old, but I really do want to be organised/disciplined enough to use only what I have when I have it, and that means not using the CCs because I am only then focusing on what I don't have in the bank, and what I will need to pay back when I get paid, if that makes sense!

It is Macmillan coffee morning day today, so I get to wear my jeans to work in return for a donation. In the last couple of years, I have paid my donation but not worn my jeans because they didn't exactly flatter me. This year, though, I will be wearing my jeans with pride and will be happy to hand over my cash for the privilage of doing so :D

Oh, and cakes too.....am very happy to be paying for cakes today. All in the name of charity, of course :rotfl:

Sounds like a good plan for the day Hypno :)

Dietwise a difficult last week, someone was leaving OH's company, and they'd never been to our current city, so it was big restaurant meals every night with more than one course, rather than the smallest ones we can find. Anyway next week is looking like less socialising so maybe next week will be better for the weightloss, although the food and the company were good :)

Anyway for me this year is about gradually expanding the possibilities of what I do normally, expanding the 'envelope' I think over time it's gradually shrunk into a smaller comfort zone, so now I'm positively trying to try again things I used to enjoy and try new things too. Not necessarily expensive e.g. went to the local museum on the free day, had everything from middle ages through to a big modern art installation where you became part of the work as you walked through it, it wasn't until afterwards that I realised how much I'd missed such things and making time for them. On the sussing out of the jogging route spotted an Africa restaurant, so rather than a 'safer' choice we'll be trying probably Ethiopian food next week - you could do something like just putting something you've never eaten before in the supermarket trolley, or try a new recipe. If I was near a library I'd definitely be trying out new authors and types of novel too.

I know you're 'new me' was started by your new situation, but it seems like others on the thread are going through similar reassessments for various reasons. It's good to chat and compare notes here :)

Well done on the CC front Hypno, it's now you controlling and using the cards, rather than them controlling you :T:T I know it's not yet, but maybe at some point in the future you'll be happy with the cashback credit cards - I love making money from the CC companies.

se, I know exactly what you mean. For various reasons we get into our comfort zones, and are reluctant to step outside them, but when we do, we realise just how much we benefit. As you say, it doesn't need to be anything costly, but just trying something new, or something that we haven't done for a long time can make us smile, and allow us to push the boundaries a little bit further again :)

I've been using the Tesco CC so get my points, which in turn I have been using for meals out with their clubcard deals, etc, so I have benefitted that way. I think, though, that I have spent so long thinking about what I couldn't have and couldn't afford that I still associate CCs with borrowing (which of course they are) and because I have had so many negative associations with borrowing, I want to break free for a while.

To that end, I have renamed my pots of money (well, have renamed the pots, anyway - whether there is money in there is quite another matter) to things that are more positive. So instead of "emergencies" I have "as and when". Instead of "overpay" (which has connections with the debt) I have "extra cash".

There is no point in negative thought, it takes up time and energy which could be used in a positive, happy way!
