It has been a long time coming, SF - the number of times I have tried to diet and/or exercise in years gone by but never for the right reasons. This time is different. I have a different mindset, and it all clicked into place.

So, all I can say, SF, is that it WILL happen, when it is right for it to happen for you, but maybe trying to change the way you look at things might have an effect. If you haven't tried Paul McKenna's "I can make you thin", then I would certainly recommend it xxx

Thanks Hypno - that's really helpful.

I have fallen off the WW routine recently for all sorts of reasons but need to re-find that motivation/stamina to keep myself going.

    wanders off looking for motivation....

Remember, though, that part of my reason for the weight working so well this time for me was because after OH left me, I needed to take control of *something* as it seemed as though everything else was outside of my control at that time. It wouldn't have mattered what I took control of, but because I had already lost a swift half stone after he left, i thought I would use it as a good start from which I could build.

So, it was a control thing for me, but because I did it with a positive outlook, as being something that was going to be so good for me going forwards, it worked well.

Whereas every other time I have tried to control my food intake, it has been with quite negative thoughts attached to it, and has therefore failed.

This eating and weight lark can be quite a complex matter, can't it!!

    Yes it can!!!

The thing that I admire about you is that you do sieze whatever is going on with your life and control it. This year very much feels like things have happened to me rather than me directing it - I really do want to take control but struggle to.

I think there is a lot to say about a positive outlook - everyone at work compliments me on mine but I don't seem to have it as much in my home/family life. I've been reading MG's diary (just got to the bit when Mr Big has presented himself - so still lots to catch up on!) but the one thing that really strikes me about her, and you, and many of the diaries I read on here is the positivity.

I'll have to look into that a bit more I think ...

I've always had to be the "strong one" in our household, but I haven't always been positive about it. However, as the years have gone by, I have tried to be less negative about the situations I find myself in, and just get on with making the best of a bad job, or making the most of what I have got, digging deep to find yet another scrap of determination to get through.

So, I have had plenty of practice at it, and it does get easier as I can strip away some of the overpowering crap that I have had to fight against, eg the debt and the issues it brought, and can start looking at things in a slightly different light, which allows me to be a bit brighter about things.

I have had plenty of times, though, when I have just wanted to throw the towel in.......but thankfully I didn't give in to them!
