To that end, I have renamed my pots of money (well, have renamed the pots, anyway - whether there is money in there is quite another matter) to things that are more positive. So instead of "emergencies" I have "as and when". Instead of "overpay" (which has connections with the debt) I have "extra cash".

You have probably all noticed that about three months ago I refused to use the big D word - now I always say 'negative wealth'. Which happens to be also technically correct.

Are you going to use 'negative debt' for savings too :D

It might work for you, but my brains logic overrides that immediately.

    Hi Lads and lasses.

Welcome to payday whoop!!! H i love the renaming of the pots. my envelopes have such droll names like "fuel" and "food". really should be more inventive!!!
Just wanted to suggest, has anyone tried "trionz" bracelets? have a google, i've just ordered one as I am a terrible sleeper. they are quite pretty and I have spoken to 2 people at work who wear the dual bracelet who have said they cant believe the difference in themselves from wearing it. may be worth a go i'll let you know how I get on!!
Also I went to buy "the secret" the other day but it just didnt attract me. instead my eyes went to a book to its left called the art of happiness which is a collaboration between an american professor and the dalai lama. I've held an interest in buddhism for some time now due to my beliefs but this one attracted me for completely different reasons and I have to say the wisdom and advice that is in the book strikes home on so many levels. I've found myself nodding and saying "gosh, I agree with that!" a number of times. that, along with MG's challenges and general over all positivity is massively increasing my outlook on life and making things more fun, light hearted and less stressed. cant be a bad thing!! :D

Hypno I wont be around much over the next week, but positive thoughts for viewings and house sales and hope it all goes well. I'll be keeping up with MG's challenges but that is all i will probably have chance to do. Text anytime.
have a good weekend all. Lots Love. xx

    Hi Se,

no, I don't use 'debt' at all for two reasons. One - law of attraction and 'debt attracts debt' (this is the one 'just in case'). The other reason is that 'debt' defines the situation in relation to others - I have debt in relation to the bank but it does not describe me. What describes me is my personal wealth which is:

posessions + assets - liabilities - debt = personal wealth

So my liabilities and my debt are technically the two negative numbers in this equation. This is why calling it 'negative wealth' is not only being on the safe side with the law of attraction but also technically correct. BTW, paying one's debt can be seen as reducing debt; it also is the increase of one's personal wealth.

I find that when I frame it as 'paying debt' I feel very negative and scared about it, and risk drowning in regret; when I see it as increasing my personal wealth I feel positive, strong and optimistic.

Sorry, thought that giving the rationale will make this look less wacky.

I think you've actually just made it worse Firewalker :D I've had too strong a background in maths and logic as well as accounting.

I do think coming to terms with your fear of debt in a more simplistic and logical way will help in the long term though, because debt/credit to a certain extent is hard to avoid in the modern lifestyle, and learning to use it positively and beneficially is a useful tool.

Just thought I should add a bit more, sorry if I'm waffling. But trying to face our fears, and overcome them helps us to extend the boundaries of what we are and can be.

I've got fears too, but I'm trying to overcome them. OK there is a size limit on spider size tolerance at the moment, I think it's 2" max, but it used to be smaller :D

Se, could not agree more about the fear - but how do you do it? I tend to change the way I think about things - and I don't believe that this makes the process 'irrational'.

You know this book 'Feel the fear and do it anyway'? For sometime now I have been thinking what happens when we loose our fear?

At the moment my only fear is dogs - running down the Mersey and dogs chasing me is something I can do without. But then again, if I imagine the dogs like little sweet puppies rather than the large beasts they are my fear seems to subside.

BTW, I have been to Tampere - was invited to give some lectures there several years back. Stayed in hotel next to the lake and realised that ending my shower with cold water is not a very good idea - gave such a scream that woke up the whole hotel very, very early in the morning.

Not sure if changing the name is actually dealing with it, but it might be for you.

I try to approach fears by dealing with them gradually, and seeing the benefits as I cope with them. e.g. A house with spiders means a house with less nasty flies. They're an essential part of the food chain etc., etc..

I've got a fear of heights, but that's linked to an atrocious sense of balance, so trying exercises to improve the balance, plus got to go back to the Dr's for some more anti-biotics for an ear infection that isn't clearing up and I think affecting the balance too. The benefits are that I'll be able to go more places and do more things if I can get the balance improved, and hopefully that will help improve the fear of heights. No problems in flying, so it is more a fear of falling/balance related.

So for me I tend to try to analyse the elements of the fear, and then deal with it that way. But I'm into logic so it works for me :)

I've spent the day reading MG's thread and snoozing. Lovely. Firewalker, you sound quite a lady!

I have lots of plans and ideas for the future and am feeling very positive just now. Going to write it all down on my diary later to get it out there XXX

Evening all - it is v interesting to see how different people have takes on fears, reframing, etc.

The main thing is, that as long as everyone can find something that works for them, we will all make progress :D

I've got jacket spuds and sausages in the oven for my dinner, then off to the ski club for a while before coming home to my sofa, the central heating and a book.

I hope you have all had a good day, and that you get a chillin' evening.
