I will be giving that one a go, benben. Sadly M/B efforts are out of the frame because I have no float :(

Basically, have worked out that my income covers my basic outgoings (mortgage, bills, bus fare) and leaves me with a surplus of just £9.55.

Then my child benefit and maintenance which combined come to £392 arrive on 1st Sept, but that has to cover all food, petrol, spends, school uniform  and DS's ski camp (which in itself is £220 - I know, I know).

So, am trying to draw positivity on the fact that at least my bills are paid for without worrying about a shortfall there - no DDs or SOs will be bounced. That on its own is good compared with years gone by!

I just have to get the other expenses right down, and some extra cash coming in from ebay/amazon/maybe even a dreaded car boot!

    Hi

Just popped in to wish you luck for September - I'm sure you'll be fine. Wish I could have egg and chips but I'm on a serious health kick at the moment and daren't stray until I get to goal!

A tight one but not as tight as others so I'm sure you will do it somehow - maybe some therapy clients?

Is DS dad going to help with paying for things like skiing expenses as that is a lot to deal with on your own?

Hypno, take that deep breath and jump in at the deep end. You will find it tough but hey, if life were easy how boring would it be. Its amazing what you can do with £9.55. If your store cupboards are full then at least you wont starve. Can you do a car share with anybody near to you for helping with the cost of petrol to work? Can last years school uniforms be revamped for a few weeks until next month? As the kids are so on board, I am sure that they will understand having to wear the same skirts/trousers if they still fit.

Am most unlikely to get help with skiing costs, but will ask for help with uniform. As DS went to school at the end of term last school year armed with a note excusing him from uniform because it was too small/too ripped etc, I can't do the same at the start of this year, partly because I have already chucked the torn stuff out!

I get the bus to work which is the cheapest option, and that is included in the "bills" amount, so no worrying about the cost of bus tickets.

I'll be ok. Its not exactly new to me to have to make something out of nothing!

eek less than a tenner  good luck with being uber frugal. We are all behind you egging you on (no pun included). As eggs might feature alot in your diet, is there someone selling eggs somewhere that would swap a therapy session for a few weeks supply or something. You know the old bartering thingy

ref uniform, don't forget that occasionally you get uniform on freecycle. Or you could put a want add on there. Also the old supermarket boards or even charity shops too. I found some school kit in charity shops when I was in the UK.

i am sure i am teaching my grand mother here though....

I know you are using your clubcard vouchers for cafe rouge but could some of them go on the double up thing for trousers / shirts for school?

I don't think I am wrong in saying that this will be my toughest month yet since OH left, so it really is a challenge to myself to get through it without causing myself a problem. I think that if I can get through to September's payday, I can get through almost anything.

    **takes deep breath**

Only wish I had a few quid I could lob your way :(

Ditto - but don't worry, if I ever win the lottery, DFW'ers will be the top of my list of people to help :D

Oh yes, that means I need to buy a lottery ticket from time to time to have any chance.....plan foiled :o

It's just another challenge.....we can do it x
