By the end of today I'll have had three seperate Dr's appointments! Isla's been checked over and they think she's got a bug and the teething isn't helping so to keep giving her calpol and keep an eye on her. I mentioned my mole and got booked in with the nurse for this afternoon, she doesn't think it's anything serious but want's me to see the Dr to be on the safe side so back over at 4.30! It's a good job I live so close.
Boots is just up the road so I nipped in there and got these for £2.25, these for £1.25 and these for £1 a pack. 90% of the baby food jars are reduced to between 15p and 50p each and the porridges/cereals were about 60p. They said all stores should be reducing them if they haven't already as pack sizes are changing on some things and packaging on others. My local is the size of a small kebab shop so doesn't stock much, if the tickets aren't showing reduced it might be worth checking though.
Tia I'm glad you got the phone sorted, sounds like a nightmare!Belly Monkey arrived 19.11.09 :j0 -

I know some people do use buggies for naps, but it would be my preference not to. Fair enough if they are out a walk or something, but don't like the idea of her being stuck in it whilst in the house. Nothing wrong with it if that's the only option, I just think a cot or something would be more comfortable. If this was the only thing though then it might not be such a problem!
I imagined it as you describe Sami in that there would be evidence of arts & crafts or that type of thing, but there really wasn't. Obviously not all childminders have huge houses, so I am trying not to be too unrealistic though.
My poor baby was up half the night crying inconsolably. I took her into the spare room with me and we managed a couple of hours sleep. At 6.30 this morning, I ended up taking her into DH and telling him his sleep was over and it was his turn and I went back to bed in the other room. He calmed her down, gave her a bottle and got her to go back to sleep before he left for work! :T She slept for about 2 hours, so I got to snooze for a while.
She has had another 2 hour nap since and now her nose is streaming and her temperature is 37.5 degrees. We are meant to be hospital visiting tonight, but I don't think it would be a good idea. Don't want to spread Holly's germs to DH's gran as she is poorly anway.0 -
MFD, if I had found a great CM for DS1 (don't get me wrong, she was good at the time, but looking back, she wasn't great) I'd have stuck to a CM and be more for CM than nurseries. Or if I had a crappy nursery. But then again, I don't think DS1 would have done well in a nursery either.
But I was also told by a few CM that DS2 would be 'too difficult for them' due to his disabilities (which were far more time consuming at the time), so that did put me in a bad mood with them all. Whereas his nursery welcomed him with open arms. They also now have a few other special needs kids too, one little boy in the 0-3 unit with severe CP and his mum had the same problem as me, no CM would touch him.
It's just different things for different kids.
Right, I need home insurance help. How do I make sure they cover the iphones?0 -
Fitz poor Holly, it sounds similar to Isla and it's the inconsolable sobbing that breaks your heart isn't it. I'm glad you managed to get a bit of sleep once OH took over. Is that a new avvie too or have I been really unobservant recently?
Holly looks gorgeous in it!

MFD - I appreciate your procrastination!
CAFC - I agree with everyone else, don't worry about bathing Landen too much. And definitely get OH to help you. It's a good way for him to get involved and so much easier with 2 of you. I bought the ergonomic support but only used it once as I found it much easier in the baby bath than leaning over into the big bath! I hate that she has outgrown the baby bath now!
Boo - hope Isla feels better. We used Calpol for first time last night. Thinking of giving H it again as her temperature is up.
ETA - Avvie was changed after the hen night, but I hadn't posted much. Thanks, her tongue is hanging out in a cheeky pose.
ETA 2 - The snot is dripping off her and she doesn't want me to wipe her!! It's non stop.0 -
Grahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! I just sold a phone on eBay for quite a lot of dosh...buyer sent the payment and it's come as an eCheque! We leave for the States early Tuesday morning so I HAVE to ship it by Monday - highly unlikely the cheque will clear by then. They have 100% feedback but I'm just going to have to take a huge gamble and send it, rawrrrrrrr.
I don't trust anyone else to do it for me (only person we could ask really is BIL who DH will see over the weekend but he's totally lazy and forgetful and I could easily see him not sending it until like a week later)...I may talk to him anyway as it's quite a lot of money.

Agree completelyI think it is nice on here that we have some people so committed to doing things one way and others who are just as committed to something else. As long as we can all agree to voice our opinions and move on (which I am so guilty of not doing sometimes LOL) it gives a nice balance.

Different supports are better for different people. With the boys I used the flat sponge, with Amber the summer infant one.
Have you tried just leaving him lie flat in a few cms of water? You can use a towel as a support so he doesn't slither away.
I sit William on a flannel now still when he's in the bath as he is such a wriggler....Am sure he didnt have many baths in the first 6 weeks, usually just a wipe over with the flannel/ sponge.......he only had one the day after he was born because they used him as a model for the FTM's :rotfl:
Boo - dont use Easy ups but the other bits maybe handy.... must nip to Boots late on one night me thinks....Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0
