Krystaltips wrote: »What are the chances of another opportunity opening up in 12 months time Bruno? Or could you talk to current employees of the boss to see how he is with flexible working? Find out if he has children so he might be understanding etc?
Thanks Krystal
It's a she, which might have the potential to help I guess! There are actually pretty strict policies here about encouraging and supporting flexible working, just dunno if the requirements of the role would make it practical.
I will definitely be talking to some of her people. Another role opening up in 12 months or whatever - reasonably likely to find something which is more money and I can do, not that likely to be quite as good a match/"promotional" as this one is, but definitely possible.
I think I must research and investigate some.0 -
[STRIKE]Good[/STRIKE] morning everyone.
Bastage camp update - email from her solicitor;
Dear 3
I do appologise for my delay in responding. I have considered the material in detail and whilst I and my client remain very sympathetic to your predicament, there can be no question that any liability rests with her.
I hope that you will appreciate that my client was only a volunteer helper at the time. Whilst she has taken steps to continue the good work she did not take over any business as a going concern. What she is involved in now is therefore a fresh "entity".
My client wishes matters to be left at that as there would be no purpose in lengthy protracted correspondence. She hopes you will appreciate this point and let matters rest. Threats of press advertising will only distressall parties more.
I hope matters can rest here but if you are otherwise minded please consult your own solicitor.
Kind regards.

Bruno - I would throw your hat in the ring and then have some honest conversations...if those conversations mean that they don't give you the job then so be it, there will be other jobs...but if they do give you the job then you have an excellent opportunity to put yourself into the right promotion for both you and your family IYSWIM.
Is this all because I said I might earn as much as you do soon? :cool:please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
...Wow, 3. This seems to be missing the point? The point is surely not suing someone for liability, it's the "person or entity who received money for the holiday and then didn't deliver, returning the money"? Will you talk to your solicitor?
ETA: Precisely, MFDit's all about keeping up with the MFDs!

3 - no solicitor worth a bean sends official correspondence by email, even in this day and age. Solicitor is trying to fob you off.
Go to the press immediately.
Edit - Bruno has a point. You paid for a holiday (5 nights?) you only stayed for part of the time (2 nights?) so please refund my money....but there is an issue over a) who received the money and b) whether they still have anything to do with bastage camp and c) whether bastage camp is a legitimate company/charity/entity in the first place.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
I agree with MFD that's a complete fobbing-off attempt
To add, you are labelling him 'bastage camp solicitor' but he is writing as if his only client is one poor, tragic volunteer worker??0 -

I've phoned him this morning. He's asked me to send a copy of the letter over to him and he'll look into it further but not to get my hopes up.
He also said to go to the library and see if they have access to the FAME system? Where you can find out about the company as he's confused as to who owns/runs Bastage Camp - aren't we all?
He's also concerned that the Bastage Camp I booked with are now a 'different' Bastage Camp run by different people.
Aaaaaaagggggggghhhhhhhhhh!
ETA: Yes Bruno, he's not Bastage Camp solicitor, just poor unfortunate volunteer solicitor.:beer:0 -
Morning all
I have a very happy little girl this morning she is finding pretty much everything funny and giggling and smiling away
Just love her so much x
Cant remember who posted the Bento link, very naughty giving me ideas lol.
Really need to go shopping today we are lacking some what in the food department! Also need to get some other bits n bobs and have a £5 off voucher from last saturdays paper that needs using.
Bruno - I agree with MFD about the job.
Still no word on the Flat, well its one less choice to make. Becides would have had to find money for carpets etc, at least now we can make some effort to save knowing that carpets aren't included.

3 - am I right in thinking that:
- the 'person/company' you made the booking with
is different to
- the 'person/paypal account' that you paid
and both are seperate to
- the 'person/volunteer' whose solicitor you have received an email from.
And
- the 'charity/american head honcho' guy is claiming that he doesn't have anything to do with any of them.
What about the One Show? It sounds like something that Dom Baldy-Guy would 'investigate' - he did something last night on a guy who had a cheque go missing in Barclays system...please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120
