A million zillion times better. Well probably about fifty times better really but it's a huge difference. :D

That is brilliant news. I was worried about you :o.

We spend about £200 a month on groceries for the three of us, but I'm quite a cheap date as that is no meat, no nappies (I always stock up when on offer so never 'need' to buy them and don't count them in the grocery budget), very little formula (just the odd carton), no coffee as I get it free from work. I think grocery bills vary hugely, but as long as it is at a level then you can afford then it's all good :D.

We've had a fabby day today, visiting various NCT friends. Henry has loved playing with slightly older children on his 9 month birthday :T.

  • Ha caz u beat me to it, I was just about to say about quinnycasters :) I am well wishing I had waited till the new zapp was here before buying one now as I'm still slightly put off ours by the non recline. Although £225 for a new zapp is a bit excessive. I see though that u can buy just the new seat unit for £99 to fit the old frame which is tempting me somewhat :D

Just having read this page, I see congrats are in order for Susan, yay!! I am just goon go back and read a bit more to see ur post Susan xx

Oh I've lost a quote, Glam - Liam was exactly like you described J. A Pro cruiser, good balance, could actually do some steps between me & OH, but if you stood him up he would just drop straight to his knees and crawl. I posted laast week that I think he can walk he's just too lazy to do it, and that night he walked fromt he settee to me (with encouragement) :T He's getting there but I think he's a lazy boy at heart.

It's amazing how alike they both are!

The other day he walked 2 steps from the edge of a box to the sofa but I only caught him out the corner of my eye.

Jillie - If its any good, as a guide Jack has 8ozs at bedtime, then usually 7ozs sometime in the night and then about 6ozs in the morning. So approx 20ozs a day - sometimes he just has 16ozs if he skips the morning or night bottle.
Occasionally, like today, he has 3ozs at creche but he has formula there. He's been on cows milk at home for about the last 5 weeks. He tends to have one meal a day that he doesn't eat all of.
I personally wouldn't water formula down, if he won't drink water from his sippy cup but will from his bottle just use that until be gets used to drinking water instead of milk. Then work on getting him to have it from the sippy cup. I also wouldn't split his night time bottles into 2 x 3ozs because then he might start waking up more often for smaller bottles.

If he's due a bottle at 10pm, when was his last one?

Jillie - sorry hun, I missed the bit why you are trying to cut down on K's milk?

we realised that Kian is till having approx 30oz of milk a day that this is probably why we struggle to get him to eat as he's full a lot of the time. When he goes to nursery he eats a decent amount and often only has 3oz or less when he has the bottle. So we think there is a connection.

So we are cutting down on the amount of milk he's having in the hope that he will eat more. I might be wrong though and he might just be not interested in food (MIL says that DH was similar and loved his milk. till he was about 1 he didnt eat very much)

One bottle i want to get rid off is the over-night one. This is really comfort feeding as he falls asleep drinking it. So we are going to reduce the amount of milk gradually to wean him off it. And only give him the bottle if he wont settle back asleep after say 30mins or so.

Susan Do you think you're not as bad as last time?, or just more prepared this time?
I think it isn't as bad last time but also last time when I felt sick or couldn't eat a full meal I ate less which I think made it worse and was a bit of a spiral. At this point with Alice we were on holiday and even a five minute walk was a bit much for me and OH did all the cooking whereas today I drove to a Boots about 15 miles away, went round it, went round pound stretcher then drove to the Metro Centre and went round Boots and Mothercare there. After Alice's quiet time I went for a walk in the village to post something and go in a couple of shops (about twenty minutes walk if I was on my own). I also managed to do all the cooking (except breakfast which is always OH's job) and do a load of washing from start to finish including hanging it outdoors and bringing it in.
