Tara, you had a wonderful day and so did most of your guests (from looking at the photos) so try and remember the good bits, fix those in your memory first before you fill it up with crap memories about your stupid MIL. It was your day - she should have made more of an effort.

My sister has phoned me three times today, the third time she was in tears as her work have just confirmed she can go back 4 days a week starting on the 4th August. Poor thing, I didn't know what to tell her other than everyone cries when they go back to work
she is normally the tough one, being the oldest

Because I was having such a good time, I failed to notice (or care) that others weren't. I didn't notice at the church that MIL stayed back when photos were being taken, so we have none with her so I feel bad. Then I did notice that her and BIL and wife and kids didn't appear at the venue for a while after. I have now heard from several guests that they were seen in the fish and chip shop in town after chuch! They arrived about half hour later. She only talked in passing and did not mention the service, the bridesmaids, Ben etc or my dress, or anything come to that. She was not there when I went from table to table chatting. She was (according to OH) outside but I didn't go outside. Now I feel pants as she obviously had a bad day. And my best friend went to look for Ben for me at the church as he did not come up for photos as by this time he was very tired and struggling on the crutches, she said as she approached him and tried to jolly him along, MIL butted in telling him he didn't have to come for photos if he didn't want to, I can't get over it, can you imagine if your little boy wasn't in your wedding photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tara, sounds as though MIL had made her mind up that she was going to be a miserable old bag before she even put her hat on so there is absolutely nothing you could have done. DO NOT FEEL GUILTY!!!
How very rude to eat before the reception!
Does DH know all this? I would be furious if it was my Mum.

:rotfl:just realised I was calling him 'OH', I forgot he was my husband!!! He is aware and quite upset, he goes very quiet about things when he is really sad about them. He said last night he was upset that she put no effort into the day!Too many children, too little time!!!0 -
*now wishes she wasn't such a gobby cow*
You could always very slyly be all sweetness and light and INSIST that everyone gets dressed up again THIS WEEKEND and go back to have some photos taken of the family INCLUDING those who weren't able to make the photos the first time around :rotfl::rotfl:

Tara your wedding day is supposed to revolve around you (and OH) - everyone else is supposed to fit in around you. And I think it's really bad that she butted in with your son undermining you by telling him he didn't have to do what you had requested.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5
