SJ - that cake looks fab, I bet you will do a great job of it:) Just out of interest, how long do the cakes last once they are made?

Elle - Yay for new car:D Just don't have 4 kids and end up being restricted to beastie people carriers!! I do like my car but it is soo big:cool:
And  at the goings on in your street!!

Hi Gym - Long time no 'see' hope you are all well:)

I had the weirdest visitor yesterday:o A mum who I have met only twice before (in 16mths) she messaged me on FB saying she would love to pop round, so I agreed...but god she was boring, I was clock watching until she went, and was trying to think of an excuse to get her to leave.......Only problem was I had already told her I was free all day until school pick up time:mad: I will definitely be avoiding her for a long time:p:o

    xx

Think my concern with a trip away is more that we would be restricted activity wise? What could be do with a baby in London? Obv. no shows/fancy dinners!

Gym - we took LO to london last year and we are going again next month she was 2 in March. We did the usual sightseeing covent gardens, camden market including a trip to hyde park so she could run off some energy and this yr we are going to the zoo and the duck tour. Had no problems on the underground but did walk alot as it was nice weather.

Mel that woman sounds a nightmare! I hate having people that I know well around my house (I'm very antisocial! :p) but to have a relative stranger who turns out to be a bore is not good!

My tummy just did a strange little flip, it almost felt like the first baby movements you get early on  If I didn't know better I'd think I may need to POAS. But I know better

I'm not really quite sure what to do.
Took my daughter to swimming lessons this afternoon. She's been going a while now, and though she's not keen she was doing quite well until they decided to put her up a class into Tadpoles about 3-4 weeks ago. As a Duckling she mainly swam with a woggle and occasionally swam a width without it. Now she's been put up they expect her to swim almost all the time without a woggle and she's really not confident. We went today and they were assessing them over a distance, so they were doing lengths. Amelie's never even been in the deep end and she had a complete crisis of confidence and kept hanging on to the swimming assistant until they had to take her down to the shallow end. I don't really know what to do as I think she's going backwards - I haven't seen any progress since she's moved up, and I can't help feeling that they've moved her up too soon. My husband is really against the idea of her going back into Ducklings as he thinks it will damage her confidence and self-esteem - but surely it would be a better move? I'm worried that at this rate she'll be completely put off swimming!
Obviously I don't know Amelie so don't know how she is likely to respond but depending on what she is like, it could be worth asking her if she wants to move back to Ducklings. I'm surprised that she was expected to make such a big jump without any preparation or any allowance being made for her not having done those things before. Is it the same teachers in both classes or is it different ones who therefore don't know her abilities? Was she moved up with a group of friends or has she left friends behind in the ducklings group? I know my mum takes both ability and friendship groups into account when moving people up through her classes so that nobody is moved up too soon but also no one is left behind on their own when all their friends move up.

I also think it's very poor if they just expect a child to swim in the deep end without any prior experience of the deep end. They should have done things like going up along the edge of the pool into the deep end a few times first before expecting her to swim in it - water confidence is a very important part of swimming and it sounds like they are neglecting it rather.

    Evening,

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Been catching up on and off during the day and now can't remember anything, sorry. :o

Redstar - If you think that Amelie isn't progressing, I would perhaps have her moved back to the lower class but tell her it's just for a short time and then work on building her confidence, telling her how capable she is etc to build her up to making the move. I personally think she is probably too young to just make the decision on her own as it would be easy for her to stay in the lower class and not push herself when she is ready. I think it's up to you to encourage her to make the move. But what do I know about older children as I am still learning myself and have no idea what I would do!?

Boo 1 aka FBB aka Fatty - Glad you enjoyed the festival and T enjoyed it too!

Boo 2 aka Boogelly - Nice to see you. How is Isla? Is she feeling better now? Yay for cruising furniture!!

Aless - Glad you are enjoying your break and it sounds like American life is suiting Finn!

    @ your tummy.

Yes it was a complete nightmare....over 4hrs she was round too!! She barely listened to anything I said and just kept droning on and on and on and on, in her monotone voice! I sound like a right meany talking about her like this, but now i remember why I didn't really keep in touch haha

We have to go to the church on saturday to finalise the blessing arrangements, I am unsure what to do about godparents....is it still 2 of same sex and 1 of the opposite sex that is tradition....does it matter if they just have 4 each, instead of 3 each????

SS, is yours just a short flight or longer? Short ones are pretty easy, just bring toys and snacks. Long haul, do everything in your human power to get a bassinet. SELL YOUR SOUL FOR A BASSINET. It will make your life 1000000x easier - we didn't get one, can you tell? :( long story which I will tell eventually.

Other than that, pleading for a bulkhead row is also awesomely helpful and/or getting a free seat next to you.

Gym - Nice to see you posting too. We usually go to London once or twice a year, but we haven't since Holly was born as I would want to go and see a show. If the weather is nice, there is lots of green space etc so I think it would be fine with a baby, but our main reason would be to take in a show so it's not worth it for me. We will just wait until H is a bit older and leave her with MIL for a weekend!

On that subject, DH has booked us into the hotel we got married in for the night on Monday and we are going to Jamie Oliver's new restaurant for dinner. It will be the first time we leave H overnight as she is going to MILs. I am looking forward to it as the hotel is amazing.

Becles - Has your dad rescheduled his flight yet? I keep meaning to say that I bought DH a flight for his birthday. And to go one better (or worse) than your dad not being able to fly due to the weather, when DH phoned to book his flight, there had been a fire in the hanger and the aircraft had been destroyed!!! :rotfl:How is that for bad luck?! We also booked my dad a helicopter trip a few years ago and the company went out of business before he got to do it!

Sugar - Are you off to Bermuda tomorrow?? Are you all packed?
