    Stairgate Advice Needed!

Just so we are clear I'm not after opinions on whether I need one or not cos I'm getting one :p

My stairs are not a standard size, the gap I need to cover is 98cm which seems quite big. The Lindam basic one I have on the bedroom door doesn't fit and I'm not sure which type I need. I'm all shopped out looking around keep finding the same ones in different shops lol
The playgroup has the lindham flexi gate thing and its a big no-no as I hate it and would rip it off the wall!
Anyone have a gate that covers that size of gap and can recommend anything?
    TIA

csh we have an extendable one by a company called roba, which we found at Babies R Us. I don't know if you have that brand in the UK or if I'd recommend it for stairs (not a gate, just a barrier, you have to hop over it) but it was cheap, expandable to 114cm and does the job.

Edit: thanks ladies for wiggly toe talk :)

csh - We have this one...but it is a fix to the wall type, not a compression fit one....Does that matter to you, or are you after compression type???

    Better link here

SJ - Glad your mum is making a bit of progress with your dad, even if it is just a little bit at a time. And excellent that your website is being recommended. Have you decided if you are going back to your old job when your mat leave is over or are you busy enough that you could you do baking as your main job?
Would you be up for a meet when you are up or are you too busy with family stuff?

Csh/Caz/Dora/Beenie/SJ/Tia/anyone else not listed who is interested...
I have plans on 19th July (which was the date of the Scottish meet, but not sure if that's happening - Scruffy can't make it either) and 23rd July. I am up for a meeting on another day, but preferably after 23rd.

I will have to go back for 3 months otherwise I have to repay my extra mat pay, so the plan is go back for 3 months (in which time I will need to take 3 1/2 weeks holiday :D ) then leave and bake full time. I haven't done the sums but I'm sure I can do enough to live off.

I would love a meet while I'm up there. MIL will probably want to spend the entire time holding Alfie but tbh it'll probably be good for us to get away one day! I will be staying in Alyth, don't know anywhere up there but will have sat nav so don't mind if I need to travel a bit. I think CSH is very close to where I'll be if she's still in the place mentioned on her fb info!

EA I was thinking I should go on there and say hello!

That's impressive - I still have to open the dishwasher for Alice.

I'm a newbie to this forum and was hoping to get some advice around the subject of giving secondary school children careers advice. I am a recently qualified teach and have noticed we have a few resources at our school although many seem to be dated, what's everyones thoughts on current careers provision within our secondary schools?

Our headmaster got us to all fill in a survey when I was at school. We had to fill in expected exam results and there were loads of questions and categories ranging from strongly agree through to strongly disagree. The questions were all things like:
I like working with my hands
    I like solving problems
    I like working with animals
    and so on.
The forms all got sent off somewhere and we got a print out back showing the types of jobs we were suited too. It was really interesting.

Our careers teacher was a sexist pig! He thought females were only good for working in shops or offices. I really wanted to do something scientific on my works experience and asked for any type of laboratory work, and I ended up in the council housing offices where I did filing for a week :( Some of the lads were in places like a local chemical company or with the police forensics. I would have loved something like that!

Charlotte is interested in counting backwards now, so we've been repeatidly counting backwards from 10 today. It was best on the field as we shouted "GO" at the end and ran around like idiots :D

Play at school was good. James was the Friar and he spoke really well. The bairns are so different to each other in Year 6. Some look really grown up but others still look like little children. Funny how they all develop differently.

School have messed up big time with the term dates. At Christmas and the May bank holiday, James got some extra holidays compared to Josh. However now school has realised they mucked up the term dates and they're 5 teaching days short. Term was supposed to end this Friday, but now it has been put back to end on Friday 24th.

However some of the Year 6's (including James) are on summer school at the secondary school next week as the secondary school is still breaking up this Friday. Therefore the leaving Mass on Thursday and leavers assembly on Friday will still go ahead, but the children not in summer school still have to attend primary school next week. It's bizarre!
Here I go again on my own....
