Mine go back on Friday - how pointless going in for one day!

  • Mel that does sound stupid. What can you do in a day?

Last day in the baby room today, so we're taking in present and card. Izzy is taking the present out of the bag, and has filled the bag with my breakfast all ready this morning, but hopefuly they won't mind!

MOTM - All I would say about marriage is if it feels right then do it:D

I'm not sure about the romantic aspects of proposing, my dh proposed to me in the skankiest, most rancid nightclub ever, that we only happened to be in because we were dragged there by his cousin for her birthday!! I do sometimes wish it had been a bit more romantic, you know, a nice lunch and a pretty walk something like that....but hey, given we've been together nearly 16yrs and married nearly 8yrs it obviously hasn't bothered me that much;)

Dh chose my engagement ring, after he had asked me because he wanted to know which type I would prefer (solitaire, cluster, white gold, coloured stone etc) he said seeing as though I would be wearing it for the rest of my life he didn't want to get me something I didn't like:)D

Not sure about the timing of it, are you thinking it might seem as though you are only asking because of the pregnancy? Do you think Lucy would think this, or would be happy either way, you know her so I would go on your own judgement about whether to do it now or wait until after the babes are born......I am glad you have met someone so special to you:)

    xx

As you say, you are still together, with kids, so it worked out for you :D

I was going to cook and ask at home, but then thought about meal out, but wouldn't propose in public as not fair on her to feel pressured.

With the ring, i'm not sure if I should let her pick it or go ahead with an educated guess. I don't even know her ring size, she has small hands and fingers, but that tells me nothing :o

The timing aspect is about the pregnancy. We wouldn't necessarily get married straight away, maybe even months/years away, but was worried she may have too much on her mind with the pregnancy.

It feels right. It didn't with the last two, but Lucy does things to me no-one else ever has (clean thoughts!)

One day? I thought two days was taking the pee. They get up for it for one day, then it's the weekend again.

redmel - thats very annoying for one day!

MOTM - big congrtas to you and Lucy :D T was a fraternal twin originaly, MIL is still convinced if I manage to get pg again it will be twins or triplets as we have these on both sides of the family. Personally I'd be happy for one more little miracle :D Anyhoo you must be a great dad to be blessed with so many, hope you get your boy(s) but as you said most importantly they are healthy. As for the nuchal scan we went for it as we said if there was an issue it would allow us to be prepared for it and do our research instead of the shock when LO was born.

EA - hows it going convincing F about the finger foods?

beenie - crazy lady last minute uniform shopping!

T didnt want to go back in her cot last night and cried each time I tried so had a restless and uncomfy night :( Not sure if it had something to do with the fact I washed her blanket she lays on, so it no longer has my smell on it!

Anyone have any good fingerfood breakfast ideas for starting out, T likes toast but dont want to keep giving her that. Her holding skills are limited atm so cereal etc is out.

Yep, very pointless going in for one day, and annoying!

MOTM, Yes a meal made by you at home would be nice, like you say less pressure than being in public......although I wasn't really thinking of the whole getting down on one knee thing;) I think it would be lovely, life is short and I always think if people want to do something they should do it. Most people only regret the things they haven't done:D

As you see me and dh were engaged for 8yrs before we actually got married, although some of that was due to me being so young!! So you could always have a nice long engagement but at least you have made that 'extra' commitment to each other:) You and Lucy are practically the same ages as me and my dh.

    xx

J goes back Friday, L on Monday.

I looks like it's going to be another nice day today. Not sure what we're doing. V will be out with MIL all day - I might take the big two up to the library.

Som Crumpets are good for sucking on for breakfast. V likes them with a little spread of marmite - strange child!

MOTM - if Lucy is fussy about rings (I am as I like minamalist) why not get a toy one in a proper box and pop a little note in saying she can choose her own when she is ready then it take the pressure of a little too but she has a nice little keepsake. I would love this if my OH evergets around to proposing (insert rolleyes).

You have a good chance then :) Any plans? ;)

I shall speak to Lucy about the scan. Maybe quietly when the girls are not around.

I'd say because you washed the blankets, she didn't have the familiar smell she was used too. T has a lovely name btw. How exactly do you pronounce it?

    Hi Som

Sorry to hear of the restless night.

For breakfast how about Crumpets or Banana, Is she any good with her pincer grip, how would she be picking up some cereal with her fingers....K still eats with his fingers so I tend to give him things like shreddies or cheerios but with only a little bit of milk just to soften them a bit....Not sure he will ever bother using a spoon!!

No, I don't think getting down on one knee would be an option, long way back up. I want to to do it and the couple of people I have sounded out in real life, have encouraged me to do it.

8 years is a nice long wait, not sure i'd want to wait that long, but that commitment is good. We are 37 and 29, so half decent ages. Did people frown at you when you got together? Some people do us, when they learn of our age. I look a little younger than 37, Lucy looks around 26/7 i'd say, so we both look younger, but people think, even at our ages, 8 years is too much. Cheeky mares.

Lucy is minimalist as well. She'd hate a chunky rock. I like that idea - now to find a toy version...
