We have contacted the local paper but they aren't really interested. We mainly wanted to point out the danger and contagiousness of Parvo. I have reported them to the local council and the Licensing department are 'investigating'. I'm also in touch with Puppy Love campaigns, a anti-puppy farming website that I found through this thread.
  • It is a shame the local rag are not interested - perhaps you need a human interest angle to spice it up - I hate the way journalists hone in on the most emotive sob stories - but they do - it obviously sells papers - if you had a child who was heartbroken, or even better, a very poorly child who was heartbroken, they would be there like a shot.

.... before I get accused of this being in bad taste, it comes from personal experience - for example, when I worked with kids in the NHS there was a journalist who arrived to take photos of some event I was running; we had loads of kids (generally the ones who felt up to it, and didn't look so poorly) who were desperate to get their pictures in the paper...

When the journalist was ready to photograph, he kept asking the well-looking kids to move out of the way, and asking some really ill kids to 'kneel on the floor', 'lean over', 'stay there', 'smile' .. I was watching this through gritted teeth nd wondering when to intervene... the final straw came when a very poorly girl I knew spotted me, and came over to where we were, because she wanted to talk to me. She was in tears, and looking for some reassurance - as soon as the photographer saw her, he was shouting 'oi, sweetheart, come over here, stand at the front' - it was very, very clear he wanted her in the picture because she looked very unwell... the insensitive, exploitative git!!!

Suffice to say, he didnt take any more photos...

Anyway... back on track - if you have an elderly relative, or child who would claim to be heartbroken, distraught, inconsolable etc over this, then you may just get some coverage... sadly, your story being important information for local people looking to buy a pup may not be enough - although it should be!

ETA - I have seen Evie's story on puppy love - I can see why you fell for her - lovely looking pup - so sad she had such a short life. These people and shops need stopping they really do.

    Hi all

Just to let you know that today we received a cheque from the pet shop for the cost of Evie and all our vet bills. It feels slightly bitter sweet, but I am pleased we have had some success.

Thanks again to Equaliser for your letter, it was perfect.

Thanks to all for your help.

    x

Glad it worked out - sort of.

    Happy to have helped out.
