For me, it would be a case of that. Personally, I would have higher priorities than the costs, like grieving and moving on."Your life is what your thoughts make it"

not read all the replies but if the pup deteriorated after 2 days at home, i reckon she had the virus when she was at the pet store so the other pups there may have it as well, so agree with others how have said call enviromental health, as parvo is very contagious to dogs.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!

Yes, well the OP has incurred costs of nearly £1,000. Don't you think that rather than go to the papers, call Trading Standards, etc, etc it is likely to hit the place harder by having to cough up?0 -
So sorry you lost this little girl. If she had parvo, her siblings will have it too. Have you spoken to the shop and told them about her death.
I honestly cant believe animals are still sold in shops like that, poor little sods.
Id contact the RSPCA, the trading standards and anyone else who would listen and may be campaign for this place to stop selling live creatures.
This sentence should nail them:
"All our puppies have been vet checked and in good health before leaving our premises"
Parvovirus is spread through contact with feces containing the virus. The virus is known to survive on inanimate objects - such as clothing, food pans, and cage floors - for 5 months and longer in the right conditions. Insects and rodents may also serve as vectors playing an important role in the transmission of the disease. This means any fecal material or vomit needs to be removed with a detergent before the bleach solution is used. The bleach solution should be used on bedding, dishes, kennel floors and other impervious materials that may be contaminated.
The normal incubation period (time from exposure to the virus to the time when signs of disease appear) is from 7-14 days. Virus can be found in the feces several days before clinical signs of disease appear, and may last for one to two weeks after the onset of the disease.0 -
Much better to get a County Court judgment under a breach of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and then take whatever action OP wants.0

I've simply given my thoughts on the matter, as the OP asked for 'thoughts/advice'... you don't have to agree with me and neither does the OP!"Your life is what your thoughts make it"

Actually it would be much better to their licence revoked and the live animals section of the business closed down.
Having to refund won't stop them from continuing with this miserable trade.A dog with a behaviour problem needs help not punishment.0 -

Cracking. And then risk not getting the money back.
Don't you think it is much more effective going to the media, TSD and anyone else armed with a Court judgment that they are wrong?????0 -

Sure. Well, I've drafted a letter before action for the OP so hopefully the OP will do the sensible thing and sort themselves out before going down the more crusading route.0 -
I just wanted to send my condolenses to you, you may of only had her for 48hrs, but you gave that doglove and she was part of the family, rightly or wrongly about the ethics of where you brought her from - its done and dusted, but it doesn't mean that they should be allowed to get away with it, I'm guessing that the dog just did not contract Parvo virus overnight, and theres a good chance that her siblings will too.
I would get your vet to back up the infection, and protocal, call environmental health - they can put u through to the right people, contact the dog warden and the papers.
I know its totally irrelevant - but in relation to newspaper being interested, 4 yrs ago we had an incident regarding my daughter, long story, what started off as a letter to the local paper (intended if lucky for the letters page, turned into a snowball, went nation wide, so yes do contact the papers.
As a fellow dog lover we lost our spaniel last yr, not a day goes by when we dont think of him, it would of been his bday on Tues, seemed weird not haveing here, we've got another dog who is loved as equally, but loseing a pet does take time to get over. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
