Neither interested nor care. I let you take my share of caring.
Your children who lovingly let balloons off in memory of their grandad wouldn't care that doing that could kill animals? Or you're neither interested or would care if they start smoking? Either way i'm not surprised you see no issue with it.0 -

Nope you can still smoke at 16 you just can't buy them.0 -

The kids have enough problems dealing with his death. My concern is for them and not the environment at this point.
You don't like it. I am only bothered by my childrens reactions and not buy the cutie little fishes or hoppy bunnies.
If my children chose to smoke at the age of 18, then that is only their choice. Letting go of balloons is not illegal at any age so a poor analogy.
And as you know nothing about me, I am surprised that you are surprised. As I know nothing about you, I simply have no opinion about you and thus do not care.0 -
You don't have to release butterflies; they are already free.
Unless you breed them and keep them in captivity before you release them of course.
Why not just mention the people that you are missing in the service or at the speeches and raise a toast to them? Or is that too 'unimaginative'?
because i am using these said balloons anyway so rather than them being burst or deflated by children i thought of letting them go.
i was fine with this until that last sentence.
get of your high horse will you and go save the planet some other way.0 -

So why bother to respond or give her what she is after! Ignore her, thats what most of us do! click on her profule and you have the option to ignore whatever she posts.0 -
I take it from shellsuits and flys reaction that someone else suggested this and the forcefully opinionated ones kept chipping away til the poor poster ran away in fear?? *where is the rolls eyes smiley??*
it was a suggestion, nobody has to use it and if you dont like it then dont do it... and i suggest if anyone wants to get thier panties in a bunch about it then they can just....
oh hang on.... we have a winner....You don't have to release butterflies; they are already free.

from my quick googling i can see that professional breeders breed them, you buy them, they get delivered the day before, you release them, they fly away...
if its the captivity bit thats bothering you, id stay away from zoos, wildlife parks and peoples homes... much worse things happening there
and as a matter of fact i will be mentioning my friend during the reception, i will also be having a bouquet that splits in two so i can throw half and lay the other half on her grave the day after,
i am not 'releasing' anything on my day... merely suggesting something to help a poster who likes the idea, if thats ok with you.0 -

Using the balloons anyway means you can pick them up and dispose of them like a responsible person.
My response about it being unimaginative is regarding the butterflies being environmentally safe, a little different and very pretty.
It's your children that are supposedly inheriting the planet. You might not have any comprehension of what goes out out there in the wild; but as ducks cannot type - it is down to people who DO to try and state their case.0
