Maybe it was flippant and maybe uncalled for but I stand by it as I believe the poster was only trying to provoke a reaction. And when you say people wouldnt have retailiated, I was unaware that the poster had a 'crew' of people to come and back them up and fight their battles. Ive learnt that little lesson now :rotfl:
Anyway everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and we are all well aware of yours.
Back on topic, fly, have you asked the venue about the balloons?I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

And If you read correctly in my post, I said I wasnt commenting on what you said, which I admit may have been wrong of me...

I thinks it a nice idea, and again, if all the advise is followed than I don't see it as a problem. I love seeing balloons being lauched as it is such a pretty site. As mentioned earlier you can get bio-degradable ones..
Fly, you do what you want. Afterall it your day and most people on here don't see it as being a problem!
xx
Great, they can be biodegradable. They might take a month or 2 to break down (the oak leaf reference is meaningless). In the meantime little bits of latex lie scattered all over the countryside waiting for birds and animals to ingest them, either choking on the pieces or being poisoned by them. What a lovely way to Mark your nuptials.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

I don't believe that the poster has a crew; my point of view comes from seeing the untold amount of rubbish that ends up in the area in which I live; usually from ignorant tourists that waltz around expecting people to pick up after them day in day out without a care in the world for the wildlife around them. Balloons being released with no care about what happens after the champers has gone flat in memory of those that cannot be with us at on our special day! How ignorant!
Perhaps the poster has previous form because they see all sorts of dumb-a$$ bridal 'must haves' that will have long reaching detrimental effects long after the bride has forgotten what it was they did or why they did it in the first place.
Latex and plastic will not biodegrade....no matter how much the people on the website tell you they do. Think about it.....if that was the case why would there be a problem in the first place? It's in their interests to tell people that they biodegrade....they want to sell the things!0 -
Boy somebody opened a can o' worms with this thread . Ball......oons to the lot of you (and thats meant as a joke )Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

Anyway - I think starting a thread asking why people have to be so mean, and having a bridal love up - talk about having a crew! All those meanies sticking up for the wildlife. How very dare they!0

We let some balloons go for the kids in memory of Granddad last weekend (not wedding related!)
The kids loved it. They all drew their own little pictures or wrote letters for Granddad and I attached these with cotton. No ribbons went with the balloons but the kids all said goodbye to Granddad in their own way.
If you want to let go of some balloons, then go for it. It isn't banned.0 -

Now I may be naive here, but surely they must be bio-degradeable? Im sure they wouldnt be able to sell them if they are blatantly lying?
If this is the case - and they are lying, wouldnt someone contact trading standards?
Im genuinely asking?:heart2: Got Married on 30/4/11 :heart2:

The reply to fly was polite, the narky responses were in retaliation to someone who was being flippant about that reply. Really if all people want is a "yes hun, it's your day" they shouldn't ask the question on a board.0
