Reporting a private seller on ebay who should be a business. How!

Holy Moly!!!!!!!!
Am truly astonished the majority of you seem to think it's OK to buy things specifically to sell them on Ebay and then not pay tax on it:mad: - what about people on means tested benefits? Shouldn't they all be declaring any extra income?
I wouldn't hesitate to report some free-loader on ebay for not paying tax.
It's interested that on MSE everyone has a go at benefits cheats for not declaring income but seem to think that tax evasion is perfectly acceptable.
Exactly! I can't believe people can just sit there and condone tax dodging. People who do this are stealing from everyone.0 -
Well actually i had some spare time to search and the OP did actually register as self employed to do mystery shopping:)
After reading the first post again i can not help but wonder what the real issue is, even going to the point that the person may be in breach of her tenancy agreement by storing things there, surely if you are only worried about the tax side of things this would not come into it.
And dare I ask why you decided to take it upon yourself to search for me about whether I'm registered SE?
And yes you are right - I did some mystery shopping - only for a short time but I did the right thing and registered self employed.0 -

Then we'd all be the same, and I'm all for equality.Chunkymonkey32 wrote: »Why should the good support the bad?
Because that's what we do. My tax money goes to give rapists free board and lodgings and all the support they need when their free housing runs out.
It goes to pay the wages of MP's who think it's OK to to fiddle their expenses, expenses the tax payers are paying for.
Why should I care that someone is not paying tax on a few quid extra earnings when the are multi-millionaires avoiding paying millions of pounds in tax.0 -

It's not that we think it's ok not to pay tax, it's just that we think between not paying tax on a few extra quid and stabbing your friend in the back, stabbing your friend in the bad is a far worse crime.
I wouldn't hesitate to report some free-loader on ebay for not paying tax.
Even if she was your friend?0 -

One thing that makes wonder...........the OP has found out that it is against the rules to buy things and sell them on ebay as a private seller, but she can't find the link to contact ebay, which is on the page that says you should register as a business if you buy things to sell on ebay.0 -
The OP is also not answering basic questions that have been asked like.... has she mentioned her concerns to her *friend*?
I don't think we're encouraging tax evasion, we're merely suggesting nicer routes to go about getting the same goal.0 -
How does the OP know if the friend has declared the income to the inland revenue or not? The only thing that the OP knows they have one wrong is not declare themselves as a business seller on ebay. This hardly justifies the anger.
I wouldn't be too happy if someone sold a present I had bought them on ebay but then I accept that when I buy my mother and sister a present I always have to keep the receipt and nine times out of 10 they take it back and exchange it. I'm not happy but neither would I be furious.
I know nothing about ebay but I don't really know why someone breaking the ebay rules of business/private seller would cause such anger that you would look to cost them their home by reporting them to landlord. Obviously if the friend is claimg benefits or not declaring the income to the inland revenue then this fraud and their are hotlines that the op could report their friend to.0 -

Cannot see a problem in this, you come to an open forum and make a post like you do, leaves you open for scrutinisation yourself.singingsister wrote: »And dare I ask why you decided to take it upon yourself to search for me about whether I'm registered SE?0
