Reporting a private seller on ebay who should be a business. How!

You don't know what your friend's financial circumstances are, if she is making a bit extra for her and her kids then I don't see why you are getting so upset about it. If it's because she sold a gift from you then just tell her that you won't be buying her any more gifts since that's what she does with them. If you were making a little money do you think your friends would report you for it? And if so would you think they were any kind of friends?0

I Agree with everyone else, don't buy her anymore presents and then she can't sell them... what she does in her own time is up to her, as long as its nothing like selling drugs or killing people keep out and leave her to it! Geordie hit the nail on the head with the comment about friends knifing you in the back.MORTGAGE JAN 2019

i think its deeper than the ebay selling....
is it because she is getting better sales than you.. all i can say flip if yuor friend has got friends like you, then she doesnt need enemies....
maybe she is just trying to make ends meet.... maybe her children didnt like playing with the toys they were given, as anyone with kids know, they get loads of toys, and end up only playing with a few of them, so whats the point of cluttering up the bedroom floor and cupboards, might as well flop them.... and put food on the table... as i got a funny feeling that food is more important than un-played with toys...
all i can say what goes around, comes aroundWork to live= not live to work0 -
I say good luck to her, I've honestly never seen anything at a car boot that I thought I could get more money for on Ebay.
So if she's got an eye for that kind of thing she should work with it.
We're all struggling these days and if someone has found a way to make a little bit more money she should be applauded.
Maybe she'd be willing to pass on some tips to you?
Have you actually mentioned your concerns to the person involved? Maybe she doesn't realise she's doing anything that upsets you.
I know I would prefer my *friends* to talk to me before calling the tax man, ebay, car boot organisers.
Chill out and enjoy her success with her :j0 -
Its usually "friends" who do the reporting, unfortunately. To the benefits agency, taxman, housing benefit, etc.
Every single time I received a letter or a telephone call to 'report' someone, they justified themselves by bleating about how hard they themselves had it and why should he/she get away with it and live the life of riley.
Answer is simple, he/she should not profit by breaking the law/rules.
However, so-called friends should question closely their own motives for reporting them. . .
Jealousy, why? More like laziness / blame culture.
Or else they would get off their you-know-what, work like blazes and make some cash. (Obv, whilst also paying appropriate tax, etc.)
So, yes friend probably should declare to the tax office - but who the fh are you to act as judge and jury?1373/100000 -
Never mind about the present selling side of things-if she is buying specifically to sell on Ebay then she is a business and should be registered as such.0

loads of people pick stuff up in sales to sell on,have done it myself a few times, not to the point of becoming a business though.i buy loads from ebay,99p mostly and if i dont like it or it doesnt fit i resell it eventually.or if i see an absolute bargain i will buy it to flog.its not wrong to do unless you are doing it on a huge scale.
i agree, dont give her anything if you dont want her to sell it.maybe she does it to get her kids little extras she couldnt afford otherwise.and i'm sure if you could be bothered you would do exactly the same.Shine on you crazy diamond..............0 -
I can't see the issue here. Perhaps if she were claiming benefits it would be a different thing, but just making an extra few quid on eBay to get by - umm, I'm not so sure.
You could report her but may just end up doing her a favour. Self employed status could seriously reduce the amount of tax she pays and what she can claim for, giving her a *better* level of earnings.
BTW what's your connection? Jealous neighbour, ex friend or former spurned lover?0 -
I would leave her to it as someone else said "what goes around comes around"..if she's doing anything underhand it will come back to her!;)0
