I think as April enjoys the odd flutter, maybe we should start the bets as to how long it will take before he is banned again.

I'll see your water feature and raise you a pair of denim hotpants :D

When I was on the dole last year I was repeatedly told that I couldnt go on holiday abroad because it meant that I would have to sign off and then sign on again when I got back, however, if I wanted to stay in the UK then I could as long as I didnt miss my signing on day.

At many airports now there are huge posters up about people claiming jsa and flying off to sunnier climes for their holidays - it's called benefit fraud.

JSA is job seekers allowance - an allowance paid to someone who is unemployed and actively looking for work, if you are on holiday abroad you cannot be looking for work and therefore shouldn't claim JSA.

If you sign off and go abroad and lose your housing benefit then that's just tough.

So does anyone have any links to any government websites where it specifics the rules about overseas holidays whilst claiming jsa please??

OP I asked the job centre about the same thing when I was claiming JSA and they told me that providing I could still sign on that I could go. They said only if it affected my signing on days did it matter. The lady did wink at me at the time so Im assuming its probably not kosher but if you can still sign on on the days that you normally do then I dont see that it will matter. They wont know in any case. If it does affect your signing day you will have to tell them and lose your money for the duration of your holiday.

Thanks Horace. You have just endorsed my earlier post

Nice to see that this is being advertised.

    Help please?
