Hi im booking my summer holiday now to go to Ibiza for the last 2weeks of July,
but i am unsure about what the rules about going on holiday whilst claim jsa are??
So does anyone have any links to any government websites where it specifics the rules about overseas holidays whilst claiming jsa please??
As i want to get that all sorted before i book the flights and hotel.
Thanks

hi are you paying for the holiday yourself? im pretty sure you will hav to sign off JSA and then do a rapid claim when you get back. Someone with more knowledge on here might be able to help you.. they may not look favourable on the fact that you can afford to go away (thats if you paying for it)STARTING BALANCE JAN 09 £47,400

As far as I am aware I think they will stop your JSA if you are away for 2 weeks abroad, because you are not available and seeking work whilst you are abroad.
So you would have to sign off JSA and then resign when you return from your holiday. I dont know whether you may be subject to a sanction on your benefit when you do Re-claim. I'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge will be around soon to help you.:j I have a persecution complex. Everytime I pass a shoe shop they persecute me till I buy them:j0 -
If you go abroad then you have to sign of then sign back on......
However if the holiday was to be in the "uk" then you wouldnt have to sign off...For everthing else there's mastercard.
For clampers there's Barclaycard.0 -

Hiya, and yes im paying for it myself.
Its not anything to do with the jobcentre how i spend my money though,
as i only get given the set standard rate of £68 per week,
and so how i choose to spend/save/use it isn't any of their business.
I can't afford to sign-off though as id lose my housing benefit too which i need.
I had heard before that you were allowed once 2weeks overseas holiday per every 12month period that you claim jsa,
but i can't find this on the government's website though.0 -

If i sign-off jsa to go on the holiday will i still be able to get my normal housing benefit for those 2weeks though??
As i could just about afford to take the hit of losing £134 jsa for those 2weeks,
but then restarting my claim the day i return,
as long as i keep getting my normal housing benefits.
Btw ive been on jsa for over 6months now and so know that im entitled to 4weeks housing benefit run-on payments when i sign-off anyways,
but wansn't sure if thats ONLY if you sign-off because you've got a job??
Or if you still get it even if you sign-off and just don't specify any reason why you no longer want to claim jsa?
(As i know by law you don't have to give any reason)0 -

Look what is your problem with me??!
Im not asking how can i cheat the benefits system,
as im NOT intending on just going on holiday and phoning the jobcentre to call in sick,
as i don't want to commit fraud.
Im just trying to findout what my entitlements are, and how the procedure for going on holiday whilst claiming jsa works.0 -
geez you earn a lot off benefits, is 1575 your monthly figure just for housing benefit?STARTING BALANCE JAN 09 £47,400

if your wanting to go abroad you have to sign of jsa. the only way in which you would be able to keep your jsa is by staying in the country . regarding the housing benefits you would have to contact your nearest office and inform them and they will inform you wether you would still get the housing benefit0
