I too had the mis-fortune to be changed to the Santander server in September 2010, together with my mother's account over which I have power of attorney.
Firstly, they removed my mother's savings account from her internet banking which I operate. This took a full month to restore.
I then noticed that when I log in to my accounts, it welcomed me as Mrs Payne (My mother).
About 8 weeks ago my name was removed from my wife and I's joint account and then we started receiving statements addressed to my mother and my wife.
I knew it would need sorting out but feared to contact them in case they made matters worse through their incompetence.
They of course did, as about a month ago they suspended access to my internet banking on my account, and would not deal with me as my name was not on the account..
Despite phone calls and complaints on a daily basis I was ignored.
I visited the branch and learned that they had put all my accounts in my mother's name and all my mother's accounts in my name.
I have got nowhere and not a thing has changed.
Their so called customer service is non-existant and have no way of getting anything done.
I have tried the Financial Ombudsman and they will not get involved until the current complaint has been running for 8 weeks.
I have contacted BBC watchdog today so will see if they can help but if anyone has any ideas of who else to contact please I would be very grateful.

email ceo@santander.co.uk and the top level complaints team will deal with it. They call you back within a day or 2. Don't call the Call Centre, they'll only make things worse.0 -
Hey,
Please can someone answer my question. I've had a Lloyds account for 12 years but stopped using two years ago to switch to santander (big mistake). My credit score on checkmyfile is 4 stars if I use the time with bank as 12 years and 3 stars if I use 2 years. If I close my santander account and go back to using Lloyds, will companies use that 12 years or will it start again? I have only had about £10 in the Lloyds account for the last two years as my salary and bills all are with santander. The difference between 3 and 4 star score could make a big difference when I try to get a mortgage.
Thanks

If your LLoyds account was never closed it will have been reporting to the agencies all this time. No need to close anything the question on application asks "time with bank" it doesn't say "time with the bank your salary is credit to". You can just put 10 in. its not innacurate as you've held a current account for that length of time.0 -
Ah thanks for that Toe-Jam... was wondering that myself. The account I'm currently using is about 9 years old but I didnt use it for years... when I took my new phone out they asked me how long I had been with my bank and I said 9 years but didnt know if I had done the right thing in saying that... thanks for clarifying*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

.
Also, does anyone know how to transfer money from your santander debit account to your santander credit card. Even though they're linked on my online banking, I can't see ANYWHERE that I can do this. Such a pain!
Hi there, the sort code and account number you need to use are printed on the giro slip you get with your credit card bill.
Use these to set up a new payee, and use your credit card number as the reference, you can then pay directly from your c/a to your credit card account, doesnt show up instantly however on online banking0 -

They claim nothing is wrong...but I still can't log in. Won the case with the FOS but I refused to accept their meager compensation so we're still in dispute. They even told the FOS that nothing was wrong with my account....so I sent them a number of screenshots.
How are you getting on with your complaint Cheesedoodles?
I haven't been able to log into my online banking since I decided to click the "switch over to Santander online banking" button from my A&L banking. Big mistake, huge!! That was around mid October this year. Now - two phone calls and three increasingly frustrated emails later - I have finally received a response. Perhaps due to my last email requesting they close my account immediately! The letter they've now sent me offers a meagre compensation and provides me (for the 3rd time) with new online and telephone (which I did not request) banking registration numbers and passcodes. As was the case with the previous 2 lots they sent me, this still has not enabled me to access my online banking. How I wish I hadn't clicked that button!
When I called Santander customer services I was told that my issue was probably down to using the wrong browser! He explained that they were in the process of resolving this. I suggested that surely they should not have rolled out a "switch over" service if there were flaws with it. I did not get very far with this reasoning & was fobbed off with the promise of being sent the first of the previously mentioned new online banking registration details.
I called the FOS and they said I should go through the complaints procedure with Santander first but also made positive noises about my case. So I will phone the Complaints Dept next week and see how I go - I will also be looking to claim back the cost of my calls to their 0845 numbers, and any other costs I incur.
If you have any info or advice that might help me Cheesedoodles, as you seem to be going down a similar route, I'd be hugely grateful (or anyone else for that matter). Cheers!0 -

I feel your pain !! I'm stuck half way round the world with no access to my account. .. been trying for 9 days now... British Consulate can't help because of the banking privacy laws. My only option is to contact BBC Watchdog also.... thanks for the advice. Hope we soon get the chance to get our money the heck outta there!! :mad:0 -
Each time I phone (several a day for 5 consecutive days now) I ask how many others are in the same predicament. Answers range from "Oh, just a few" to "Have no idea" to "I can't say".
It appears they have set up a special tranche of "customer service agents" to deal with the likes of us, cos as soon as they suss out what I am calling about I am passed on to another dept.
Not only is the service appalling, they seem to think we're stupid!0 -
Well my sorry saga goes on. I still cannot get into my account. I had a phone call today from Santander credit cards because of a late payment!!!!!!! They had even charged me 12.00 because of it. The person on the phone is obviously not allowed to see the irony - very professional I must say. The direct debit was set up last month and came out without any problems so I am now worried that maybe more of my direct debits won't be able to go through. I also had to ring back to sort out getting the 12.00 credited back to my account.
I am really, really peed off with all of this and feel totally powerless!!!!
... WHAT CAN WE DO?!! Someone must know how we get our money off this shonky Mickey Mouse Bank!:mad:0
