personally id say you better buying direct from avon if your getting 10% code each time plus 10% quidco cashback (as that adds up to a 20% discount anyway!) specially if your only ordering £40-50 every 8 weeks as the minimum order to get discount is £78 as a rep!

afterall if you were to become a rep you would also pay tax on your "discount" assuming your already employed as it would be counted as profit and you will be required to be registered as self employed if you became a rep!

As you say delivery is in 5-7 days of placing your order (not on a set day every 3 weeks like us reps!) and you can do free returns through the post office!

you dont have to pay the 55p for one brochure like you would be charged as a rep to recieve! Infact avon always send customers who buy online the next brochure for FREE!! or you can request a brochure for free online anyway and they'll send you one!!

    Laughable really isnt it???

i would say carry on buying online if it suits you! Afterall a rep cannot offer a 10% discount code and 10% cashback really as they would never make any money!! And you get the quicker delivery service (Next day even if your willing to pay £5.50 for delivery! - even us reps cant choose that! At best we pay £2.50 for an order to come in 5-7 days with NO discount unless its over £78 or your a PC member!)

HOWEVER before im lynched by the reps on here....us reps provide an excellent and personal service for those who choose not to buy online and of course to those who dont have the ability to! :) we can offer the extra little "perks" paid for out of our own pocket, and of course many of us can offer the extra knowledge of the product and the ability to demonstrate it to you or offer you samples etc.

(but personally in your situation id continue to buy online from avon direct!:o:o:o:o)

Yes Payless has some good points about buying online, especially if his wife and mother in law only buy every other month.

I don't know if it is fair to blame the Rep for wrong orders. Maybe they did not place the orders correctly, or maybe the items were not sent out by Avon, and therefore the Rep could not provide them.

As AvonAlex said - if they are going to place orders over £78 alternative months, they would receive 20%, and Hello Tomorrow magazine, where some items are much cheaper than brochure price, they would get sneak previews of up and coming products. Yes they would have to wait 3 weeks for delivery, but if they are ordering every other month, surely this would not be a problem?

If they knew other friends or family that also bought Avon online, it may work out better to combine all the orders and qualify for the £154 High Order Value with the 25% discount and still receive the hello tomorrow magazine.

Although if they don't, yes they are better off just buying online as and when they want to, using the discount codes available and Quidco cashback or Topcashback or whatever cashback site when available.

I wouldn't say that Reps have a huge competitor with Avon online. There are a lot of people who don't have internet access, no interest in getting it, some customers like the personal touch. I have 2 customers who have internet access, but said they like to see the book in their hands, talk to someone and let them deal with the ordering, delivery, etc.

Some have mentioned earlier they have older customers, who might buy the odd product just because they have someone come to their doorstep and have a chat with them, and this might be the only time they see someone for a while. :( I have a customer who has a family, but says to me she has no friends, and I am the only person who ever knocks on her door. :(

As with any business, there are pros and cons.

Payless - I would have to agree with johanne & aureol212 but have to admit that in over 4 years I have only 'lost' one customer to avon online. Many of my customers are a little bit older and not on the internet. Some are busy professionals who find it easier to peruse a brochure rather than look online. I try to invest a little in customer care so they are also friends as well as customers. I sometimes get referrals to their friends to supply them with brochures and they think I'm doing them a favour! But I do reward for new customers.

One of my best customers just put their brochure in today with an £88 order. They wont get a discount, they wont get delivery in a couple of days. They will get some goodies (probably pre-launch), they will get me at the end of the phone should there be anything they've forgotten/anything they need to return and they will get any other little bits of customer service they need or that I can provide. May not be enough for some but remarkably its more than enough for others.

  • Hiya,

Just wondering if people deliver their brochures to alternate areas or deliver them to the same houses each time? It just seems too soon to be giving them another brochure! I don't think anyone will want to order again as they've only just got their products from the last brochure today! Advice please!

    Thanks

I think you might be surprised. I can remember thinking just that when I started, but my customers have been getting a book every 3 weeks for almost 3 years now and no-one has ever complained; in fact I have quite a few people who order every time.

I have several different levels of brochure delivery:

People who have ever ordered from me get a brochure every time.

Those who have never ordered get every second or third brochure (and I've had customers placing first orders after around 40 campaigns, so persistence does pay off)

Houses who have asked me not to leave a book get re-canvassed around every 9 months or so.

I agree with Elliebee. I have a few customers who ALWAYS order and most of the time at least £25 worth! I can't see how they need that much every 3 weeks but am not complaining! I thought they had just restocked on my first campaign but now 6 months in I have a shock when they don't order anything!

I do the same as Elliebee if they have ever ordered they are a 'customer' and therefore get a brochure every time, if they are territory that have never ordered they get every other one(I split the territory in half), until they order and become a 'customer'!

I have amended this during the 6 weeks holiday to customers only recieving brochures and won't be canvassing any of my territory. The small chance of getting an order isn't worth the whinging of a 2 and 4 year old while we trudge around! But once the eldest is back at school and the littlest starts pre-school I will be back with avengance! Thats the reason I LOVE this job, I do what suits me! You will find what suits you too dingdong.

    Hi Ladies,
An Avon question from another thread which I can't answer. Maybe some of you would like to respond.
    Thanks X

    Hi!
I've got my first orders, only £21, but I'm still happy. However, I've just got an email from my SM she's leaving avon to go back to the college. Who will look after me now?
