Camp 12 due tomorrow night and flip flops are all showing green ticks. Could it be that Avon have finally sorted out the stock availability problem, or is this false hope?0

Hi
I’m thinking about making the jump from Sales Rep to Sales leader. So I’m after a bit of advice! Is there a lot more work involved? (I will be going back to full time education in September.) Plus is it worth the move financially? I currently have a territory of 54 houses, with 20 customers. I am thinking about asking for more territory as well. What do I need to do to get started as a sales leader? Am I right in thinking I have to find a certain about of people to sign up as Reps?
Sorry about all the questions I think if I ask my current sales leader I might get swept up in it all without time to think! Thanks.
As a sales leader you don't *have* to have a certain amount of people in your team, however you won't earn anything until you have 5 reps placing orders of a certain amount. You also need to place an order of £148 (taking into account returns as well which is a pain) in order to qualify to earn off your teams sales. So make sure you have a good customer base! To get started as a sales leader, contact whoever signed you up, they will able to get you "tagged" as a sales leader, and they will be the ones providing brochures & sign up packs for ALL reps you sign up within the first 2 campaigns of becoming a SL. There is a one off cost of £25 to be a sales leader, and there are some bonuses available, though I can't find the info for them at the mo, hopefully someone else knows!
There is a lot more work involved, while you can build your team at your pace - if a rep gets stuck, you'll be the one they contact for your advice, which can actually add up to a lot of time even when its only little queries (product info say for long serving reps). I work full time, both me & OH are reps (hence my sales figures, its for both our territories & f&f) as well as being a sales leader. I enjoy it though, and the extra money is great - most of our sales go through on OH account so I earn off them.
The bad points - not trying to put you off, but to give you the other side of the coin - you'll get people mess you about, not be in for appointments, not tell you they've changed their mind (if a new rep doesn't place an order of at least £78, we don't get our money back for the brochures & sign up pack we used, £5.49 worth - so if you can't get hold of them to get the books back, you're out of pocket), reps going to debt. However - the good out weighs the bad, I had awful luck last year, hardly any of the few people I signed stayed, but now I have a team of 13, and they're all great. I haven't signed anyone up for the last 2 weeks, as I haven't been looking for anyone (family bereavements) but the great thing is, I can plod along with my rep side, leave the SL recruiting, just helping the reps I have if they need any help, and still be earning.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
Hello!
I'm new to MSE and to Avon. I did my first drop on Friday (C11 & 12, was given a mix of books by my SL) and am going to start collecting tomorrow. I'm really dreading it though, am convinced I'll not make anything, or that I'll get people being rude to me.
I didn't prep my books very well because I only got them on Thurs and had to drop them Fri, so I need to get bags/labels etc. I was thinking about getting one of the Vistaprint stamps, does anyone have any advice on what to put on them as you only get 3 lines? Thank you!0 -
Hi Book girl.
Me too. I am new to all of this. I put my name, address and mobile number on the stamp. Not got it yet. I posted 15 books last night and have handed 4 out to friends and family. Have 230 houses in my territory so will never cover it all for C13 with only 20 books. One old woman was pretty rude last night and the friends and family i have spoken to so far haven't been very interested or get a book already. Am collecting tommorow and am dreading it a bit too. I think you need to really work at it to build your territory up and get to know the customers who are interested. I have highs and lows of confidence but am determined to give it a really good try. Am planning to get more books and insert a newsletter for C14. Also, am going to talk my mother in law into having a party to give me some practice. Good luck!0 -

Libby's right ... you should order some stuff yourself ...
£120 orders @ 20% commission = £24 earnings
you need £148 to make HOV and @ 25 % would make £37 earnings
If you spend £28 (to top yourself up to HOV), it will cost you £21 after your 25% commission, less the extra £13 earnings you made for reaching HOV = £28 of stuff for just £8 and you've made HOV
hope that makes sense xxxSmall business owner 🧵 Ex MSE comper 🏆 Student loan repayer 💴 Romanian dog rescuer 🐕 Hopefully a cost of living survivor 🤞🏻0 -

if youve got bang on £120.. it MAY be worth you bumping it up to £148 with stuff for yourself/stock/demo. (edited to add: Oops didnt see above replies suggesting this... you lot were too quick! lol)
Have you added brochures? paper bags? calling cards? these soon add up and increase your "sales" - although not your commission obviously!0 -
hello i really really need some help please
i started as a sales leader and declared self employed from nov 09 and as of this week will be no longer doing avon so will be letting HMRC know that i am no longer self employed.
anyway...im really struggling with my accounts and tax return.
do you have a spread sheet you use to do yours?
how do you break down the invoice?
have you kept records of what you have ordered for individual use or just what customers have ordered (have you kept all customer order forms) ?
how do you work out what youve earned? as if ive ordered stuff myself it will still count to the commission (IYSWIM) but i obviously wont get that commission. as i will get it at the discounted price.
i know i deduct brochure, bags and what not, but do i have to prove what ive ordered as free gifts etc and how would i?
oh and lastly what info do they need on the tax returns, how is it broken down on the form?
i have to do a profit and loss account for my carers allowance claim and im not sure what im doing, so i dont have time to wait to see the tax office i ideally need to do it in the next few days
i hate paperwork and forms i am more ofa practical and hands on person, i am regretting ever taking avon up as i have got myself into such a pickle...any help will really be appreciated.
thanks
