    Hi everyone,

Is there anyway of checking what streets have been allocated to you?

As far as I'm aware its just ASM so if you have an awful one then you have my sympathies!

I had the same issue, SL told me a street name and I delivered as got sick of waiting for confirmation from ASM. I just happened to deliver to about 10 houses that were another reps. I had some of her books put out with mine so collected them by accident and called her to explain the situation, luckily she was fine about it.

If you have the time might be worth knocking on a few doors down the street that you want to take on and ask if they have had an Avon book recently. If they haven't then start canvassing rather than wait weeks for the go ahead!
  • I've emailed a representative about selling Avon. Waiting for her to email me back.

I'm looking for work at the moment and think selling Avon could give me something to focus on and enjoy as well as making money instead of sitting doing nothing every day.

I am worried about canvassing in a busy city area though, surely people will just steal catalogues and deliveries if they are left outside?

Is it okay to agree to meet customers when they are in to collect orders and deliver products only?

I'm also looking for honest opinions, after all the hassle of preparing books, making orders, trying to contact customers, get books back, deliver products - is it worth it?

Also, if you agree to sell Avon products, is there a target you must reach and can you stop selling when you want to?

Thanks in advance you guys! :)

Firstly I would say there are other jobs that are easier to make a living out of, I worked out at the moment its equivalent to about £5 an hour. But thats because I've had it fairly straightforward with most people leaving their books out & being in when I've delivered!

I would guess that its unlikely books would get stolen, but I live in a suburb so might be a bit different. And definitely don't leave deliveries out, I try to get contact details for all customers so can ring/text/email to sort out a time when they'll be in. Only leave products when you have the money from the customer.

As far as I'm aware you can stop selling when you want.

There are targets - you have to place £78 in orders before you earn 20% commission (on most products - some products have set commission). I think with orders over £148 its 25% commission. So you can see you need to be taking quite a lot of orders to make a lot of money! Also need to factor in that you need to buy the books & other bits like bags to put your deliveries in.

Theres loads of other bits and bobs on this thread that will be of use - I think the first post is probably a good place to start with allsorts of tips :)

    Hi Ness

You need £148 to earn the HOV discount of 25%.
Your c14, c15 and your no discount items looks like it comes to £144.51, which means you are not far off. You are right in thinking that everything you order counts towards your MOV/HOV order (brochures/ Hello Tomorrow products etc...), EXCEPT for if you are a Sales Leader, then it doesn't count towards it.

    Hope this helps.
    xx

Thanks very much. Couldn't work out why the complete total wasn't showing. Will take a look through the brochures again - I'm sure I can spend another 5.00!!!

I have been doing some research online and it appears that if you earn less than £5075 profit a year that you can apply for a Small Earnings Exception. I have printed off the required form to fill in but on reading it, it appears you are affecting your right to a state pension along with all other possible benefits

That's right. You can claim small earnings exception and not pay the NI, but it does mean if you become ill, you cannot claim SSP, as you will not have enough contributions, you will not be able to claim contributions based JSA, you will not have put anything towards your meagre pension when you are entitled.

HOWEVER, you can backpay NI contributions. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/ni/volcontr/whentop-up.htm

    and

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Pensionsandretirementplanning/PlanningForRetirement/AboutToRetire/DG_10021384

it is a completely personal decision.

Now that I work part time too, I pay NI through my job so exempted myself from paying through Avon.

I'm finding that confusing too. I did my order last night and had £198 total from c.15 & HT

It doesnt say anywhere the total or what OV you're on but then I suppose it wouldnt....

With the smart start (I think its called that) do they automatically send you the samples etc that you get for being on time or do you need to do anything?

MOV - Minimum Order Value is £78
HOV - High Order Value is £148

You have qualified for the 25% discount.

With the Smart Start, you will automatically get the samples, they register your account details and know when you qualify. :)

When you are preparing your order for submission, if you go to view order, view subtotal, then you will see how your order is made up and what discount you are earning on your orders, and when you don't earn discount on HT items, it will also show this on your printed invoice when you receive it.

Never had a problem with people stealing books. And you DO NOT leave deliveries outside people's homes. You hand them over for the money to be paid, cash on delivery.

Is it okay to agree to meet customers when they are in to collect orders and deliver products only?

You have to meet with customers when they are in to deliver. You cannot leave deliveries on doorstep.

I'm also looking for honest opinions, after all the hassle of preparing books, making orders, trying to contact customers, get books back, deliver products - is it worth it?

To earn a discount, you must put in an order of £78 to achieve 20% discount, and to earn 25% discount, an order of £148. You can leave whenever you want to, but make sure your account is upto date and you do not owe Avon any money. It goes on your Credit record if you owe them money.

Thanks in advance you guys! :)

Is it worth it? Totally upto you. Some people do really, really well from it, hence the Debbie Davis and other high profile Avon ladies in the newspapers.

Some of us do it for extra money on top of our regular jobs, some of us rely on it solely as an income.

You might find that you earn a lot from your territory or you earn very little. Avon is your business, so you need to put the work in to make the money, but it is upto you how hard you want to work and if you think you are only earning £2-3 per hour, if this is enough for you.

I hope I didn't give out any duff information yesterday! Just thought that if your deadline was 10pm you'd rather have a go. There's the admin fee and smart start to consider for getting your first order in on time.

My "bumper sample pack" for reaching HOV in second campaign was a bit... not "bumper". I imagined myself doing this: :rotfl: in samples but got only a few more than I did for reaching MOV the first time. Oh well, some people were getting a full-size Anew product and I'm 25 so the samples are still more useful. Although I noticed on the Anew Platinum training video she said to start using an eye cream from 25+ so I'm not a young 'un anymore.

Doing my first lot of returns. I got the lavender boots that look like human organs but the pouch had burst and they were too big for me and too small for my husband. The neck thing was also a bit stiff and didn't stay hot for that long.
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.
  • Aaaaghhhhh. MY friend has just dropped round an order for £26, even though I told her the final date for order was Tuesday night! Thing is her and her mum are a couple of my best customers as last order they ordered £56 worth of stuff so I don't really want her to have to wait ages for the order as the next order doesn't get delivered until 17th October, so it would probably be about a month for delivery. What to do? I don't really want to do an additional order and incur the charges. Might see if I can get a couple more orders from friends and family to bump it up to MOV, then I don't mind paying the £2.50.
