~Avon Hints and Tips~(Part 5)

I don't see why Avon would mind - it earns them more money! When I put in my first order (C14) the option was there on the form to get C15 books.
But before you go spending on extra ones you could always ask if they have some spares so you can put some customers on backorder. For example, when the SL came over to take me through the online ordering system I mentioned that I'd lost a few books due to rain/not being left out and they went out to their car and gave me a load more brochures for free. They had no use for them anymore (or maybe thought it was a worthwhile investment to give them to me for free). So I took these C14 brochures and have been using them to canvas streets that will now be my "backorder streets" during C15.
I'm going to be cheeky and ask if they could do that with some C15 brochures because I only had 20 and once my backorder streets are on C15 I think I'll struggle to get brochures to all of them.
I actually think its the way i did it that confused me though, my asm gave me a list of streets and the house numbers that normally order frim those streets and told me to do them first, i think with c15 i just need to start at the end closest to me and work up through all my streets one by one, there are a few that i have down as not interested now so that will make it slightly easier.
I think the next step is to post a slip in the next brochure for those who are not interested to tick a box so i dont deliver to them anyh more. I didnt have time this time as i just wanted to get them out and done... asm was slightly useless and i have found a lot of tips from this forum xx0 -
LOL!! My asm phoned just as i pressed post reply on that! She is coming to see me on monday0

Phew! Got there!
OK so my first order is in and totals £170. Using my 40 books I managed to get round about 100 houses  but it got really tiring as now 33 weeks preggers and quite a lot of books never came back (down to 10 now).
At least I got to find out who likes Avon (ladies asking me to "always deliver brochures please") and who doesn't (ticked "no avon" box on the front of the bag) and so far I've picked up 15 customers.
I did get 2 orders from customers at a hairdressers as well as a lady in a cottage but went to collect payment twice, phoned them etc and decided to cancel the orders as I don't want any messers at all. Just pre-poayment customers who I can sweet-talk with samples;)
Sounds harsh but with a new - born baby and a full time teaching job in spring I just won't have the time for anybody less than reliable!
Know what you mean about crazy old ladies...one lady rang me all flustered because I didn't collect the brochure the 2nd time I visited (she didn't leave it out the first time) and how she wanted a mascara. I said "I'm so sorry I will pop up and see you at 6pm" got there and she was out! Left the order form just saying "mascara £5" and NOTHING else?! Hmmmm. She did look imacculate though when I finally caught up with her yesterday and said she was popping out for a manicure. Going to sell all I can to her:rotfl:
Also had a run-in with another rep who's customer was totally unimpressed with her and wanted me...had to miss out on that sale too (£15).
All together made myself £20 what with the admin fee, a few samples and prezzies for myself.0 -
i dont think the system is fair. it should be open to everyone to give a real choice. i wont be able to go on there till just after christmas after the boom when you could do with all the clients you can get and if the sales this time are anything to go by i may not make the 500 required anyway. i think the reason why a lot dont make it past the first few times is because its so hard to pick up customers to start off with. once you get going you have your customer base and dont need to convass quite as much. we are kind of going to get to that point soon with 30+ customers now. i think we will only need to go canvassing for the next 2 broshures and that will be manageable as ours are quite spread out over 2 areas. it takes 2 hours just to walk the route and we have 5 out of area that i need to drive to but thats ok because its someone thats moved and they are on the way to my friends and family who have books.Converted comper to MSE. Thank you for all your answers!0

I can understand any customer choosing a rep that is nearest to them, etc but surely ASMs should still be able to allocate territory.

"Have sales activity of £500 or more in the last 3 campaigns" seemed a bit unfair to me. Reps with less than £500 over 3 campaigns would surely appreciate customer leads.
You could argue that those with Avon debt would appreciate customer leads tooHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Do these really work? I've seen a few people mentioning a form on the front where people can say if they want to keep getting a book, but I figured most people would just ignore it, particularly the people who don't want a book. I could really do with finding out who definitely isn't interested, cos at the moment I am back and forth every couple of days to get all round my area on 40 books.Brand spanking new Avon Rep C12 £440.39 :j C13 £321.25 :j C14 £174 so far0 -

I find that it helped. Quite a few houses in my territory took the time to check the box.I just make sure that I put it right at the front so they can't miss it. Generally I find that if they're really adament they don't want another one, they'll take the two seconds to fill it in.

No, they dont always work. But you can find out for definate who wants another book, who doesn't and who currently has a rep for those that do fill them in. I always mark the house number on them as well to avoid mix-ups. Only way to find out on all your houses is to knock. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
