Oh - actually came on to declare today as NSD #6 :T :T
This is a record for me as it's 6 NSDs in a row
I've managed 6 straight NSDs before, but that was before I started counting D/Debits etc as a spend. My previous record for Total NSDs is 5 (back in February)
The best I managed in 2009 was 4 days - and that was excluding D/Debits etc, so it's an all time record for me :T
Tomorrow won't be an NSD for me though
Milk might stretch until Friday, but I'm going to have to pick it up tomorrow as I don't expect to be around on Friday (tomorrow afternoon is GD1s sports day, and then I'm almost certainly 'stopping off at OHs' on my way home - so could even be Saturday before I'm home). Also want to pick up a sports headset for my iP0d from L!dl (go on sale tomorrow morning), and need some frozen sliced mushrooms while I'm already spending - wanted them twice this week, and realised I'd forgotten them in last Thursday's shop  So I used the last few whole button mushrooms I had in the freezer on Monday and did without today

Today could have been an NSD, but bohoo, i bought some ant traps and mints from aldi :-(
And before that i'd gone Home Bargains and B & M and not spent anything because my kind mum paid for my bits and pieces.
ARGH!!!
Hopefully i will get back on track tomorrow!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Ah but then it wouldn't be a nsd... I'm such a good friend I thought it best not to offer...Nargleblast wrote: »Sit down. Put down anything sharp, breakable, or containing hot liquid. take a deep breath.
YES!!!! The Nargle has done it! NSD number one is in the bag!
Oh well done Nargle, thanks for update thrilling or otherwise lolHerbaholic wrote: »YAY well done Nargle here's to the next one
Well I managed it, today was NSD 8, didn't think I'd do it so quickly  but was also determined to make it through until our hols on what we'd budgetted for food this month, which meant no extra spending! I'd like to extend my total to 12 Spoon if that's okay? Not sure I'll get anymore though if I make that target but I'll try.
Ohhh and I told everyone how well DH did with his final year exams a few weeks ago... Well he came home today and the three years have all been totalled up and not only has he been awarded his Foundation Degree but he got a distinction, and he's all signed up to go on for the full degree starting in September all paid for by his works, I'm sooooo proud of him :A just had to share.
Herby x
Of course you are Herbie, Well done Mr Herbie. Behind every successful man...0 -

:T:T:T:T:TNDS # 3 for me
Managed to stop myself from buying chips today despite a craving.
:T:T:T:T:T So good for the waistline tooWhen I saw that earlier, I nearly posted to say someone else had stolen it today
Started by oversleeping by more than 2 hours !!!
Made it to my voluntary work only a few minutes late (just as well I did the shopping for it last night)
Came home and cleared access to a few radiators, my central heating control panel and the boiler
Then I sat and did nothing, and nothing, and more nothing !!!!!
Engineer finally arrived at 4:45pm to do the annual service/check - and was gone by 5:15pm, when I sat back down for more nothing-ness......
Until 5:45pm - at which point I think whoever had stolen my 'get up go' must have returned it.
A friend mentioned to me last night that there's a local running club (her DH found it, but decided he's not "addicted enough to running" to join), so I found their website last night and spent some time reading it this afternoon (while I was busy doing nothing).
Decided the best session for me (for now) is probably a Tuesday evening (and possibly Thursday evening - and Saturday morning if I'm not at OH's), but wanted to speak to someone first - and as Wednesday is the only night they meet at their official base (the other sessions all need a car to get out to them) I decided to bob over and see them tonight.
Used the map site to find a 1.5km run (plus warm-up/cool-down) to get over there - unlikely to get chance to run tomorrow, definitely won't on Friday, and highly unlikely on Saturday) - and set off giving myself heaps more time than I thought I'd need
Just as well I allowed extra time though, 'cos I missed a turning on a path which meant I then missed the next path through the next estate over - and ended up doing just short of 3.5km (which took me 25 mins)
There weren't many folks there when I arrived (only a minute or two late for meet-up time, which is 15 mins before start time), but I recognised the membership secretary from his photo on the website so went over to speak to him
I ended up being talked into staying around to 'watch' todays session (Wednesday night is stamina), but that meant having to join them on the 1km warm-up run to get to the site they were using
(at this point it's probably worth mentioning that the longest 'single' run I've ever done is 2.5km which was on Monday, and the furthest I've ever run in one day is 3.34km which was yesterday but split as 1.75, 0.34 and 1.25)
Turned out the '18 hills hard up jog down' listed on the site means they jog down a hill and then run back up it 18 times - though the point they run back up to varies according to ability. And of course I was 'encouraged' to give it a try
Managed the first 3, then sat out the next 8 - though I did 3 shorter 'there and backs' on a flatter section while they were busy with the hill - then I did the next, and alternates after that. On the last one - which was number 7 for me - everyone runs back to the highest point (no stopping at your normal marker and walking the rest). So I reckon that was another 3.3km (0.6km for my 'short' bits, and 2.7km for the hill work) - meaning I've done a total of not much under 8km today..... just as well I wasn't planning to run again until Sunday, and am now desperately hoping GD1 doesn't try roping me into the 'parents race' at her sports day tomorrow afternoon
But - typically - they waited until we'd finished to inform me that todays session (which it sounds like they repeat every 3 or 4 weeks) is the toughest one they do - hence only 11 or 12 others thereI actually quite enjoyed it though, and have a feeling I may set aside one morning/evening a week to head out and try it on my own
One of the lady members realised (as we got back to HQ) that I was planning to walk home, so she offered me a lift part way which meant I didn't have any uphills to contend with - the offer was very gratefully accepted
I've been told there's normally a turn-out of 30-40 on a Tuesday night, with over 90 members in total. Membership is only £20/year, which includes use of the track at a 'fairly local' sports centre on a Monday night, and you can do 2 or 3 sessions before deciding whether to join (though if one of those is a Monday you have to pay £2.50 towards the hire of the track)
I'm tired reading this cheryl. Mind you I was a runner till I broke my kneecap 2 months ago. Used to do 5k three times a week. Lucky if I can walk 2k at the mo grrrr Be careful, make sure you look after yourself. Follow advice and you'll be fine. I envy you your running, how odd is that :eek::eek:0 -
moneypenny2k wrote: »I envy you your running, how odd is that :eek::eek:
Hadn't realised until this last week just how much I regret having given it up (DH got 'difficult' about my being up at 4:30am), so I don't thinks it's odd to envy it - especially as it's still only recently you were forced to stop
I used to be out of the house around 5:30am, walk 1.5 miles for a bus (they didn't start on our route until later), get to the gym around 6:50-7am, go for a shower (and to get into work clothes) about 7:30-7:35, and be clocked in and at my desk for 8am :eek:Cheryl0 -
