Spend day for me Spoon as Friday always is, with car boot and shopping but did buy a lovely dark brown & sparkle top to go with brown trousers I have yet to buy!! The top is chiffon-y over a camisole and I think it is glittery enough for one of the formal evenings, but we will see what trousers I can get to go with it first.
The 'posh frock' I got last week is black lace over a dark beige-y lining, straight across at top with narrow black straps - just have to get a new bra to go with it as all of mine are 'practical' ones not pretty narrow strap ones, and I need one that is cut a little lower if you know what I mean !!!The posh frock was £3 off a friend at the car boot and the top I got today was £4 from British Heart Foundation charity shop, so nothing spoilt if I end up finding something else better so I will keep looking - after all, hubbie now has 2 evening suits and 2 normal suits for the princely sum of £21 from car boots/charity shops!!!!!!!!!!
But the thing is we couldn't afford this holiday, or any other if it come to it, if we were paying ourselves, and can't afford to buy new clothes for a trip that includes 2 black tie dinners, so this is the only way we can do it - and I love a bargain anyway, it's the thrill of the chase Spoon - very MSE :money:
Anyway, may not get my normal NSD tomorrow as we saw a couple of bits at the auction this morning so we are going down there tomorrow to see if we can get them - will report back tomorrow
Love the sound of the dress, 3Dogs, very classy and the top is definitely dressy enough with a pair of good trousers - you and Mr3Dogs will look like a million dollars:T
You're right about the thrill of the chase, it's the not knowing what you're going to find that makes it interesting - so many possibilities:j
Happy hunting at the auction tomorrow - and keep me posted on the posh togs (not that I'm nosey, I'm interested:D)

I doesn't do hats
However I do have a rather nice new dress I got yesterday
But the best thing about it (I guess thanks to having started running) is that it's a size smaller than I'd normally try on - and I'd have been surprised to be comfy in my 'normal' size as it's a close fitting one as well :T
Oooh, new dress will be fine Cheryl - go on, tell all, what's it like?
And well done for getting a size smaller, that's brilliant:jThe time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

OMG is that ever an incentive for getting to target lol! We could all be pirates of the seven supermarkets. Or how about a lovely NSD Ice Cream
just right for this weather, or a celebratory bottle of NSD champers
(only time I'd be affording it lol!)
Jinty you'd be welcome, be warned baking sprees are sparse at the moment though. Feeling ick this morning my nose has decided to develop a huge spot so I look like ruddy Rudolph 5 months early, flipping sore as well! I'm 46, shouldn't be getting zits at my age, I know it's not the end of the world, but when you have a butt the size of a house having a spot just seems worse than it is.
Herby x
Brilliant, Herby, thanks.. I can see I'm going to have to find some new categories this month;)
Re spots - I'm older than you and I still get the damn things... why?????????????:eek::eek:
I find witch hazel calms them down and takes some of the redness away - they're not quite so obvious when pink rather than bright red:mad::mad:The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

Oh bless thy holy NSD gang, for I have sinned and I beg your forgiveness!!
After six whole months taking my own lunch to work every single day, and not spending a penny on any extras, somehow this morning I have ended up spending £2.40 on a sandwich and sausage roll!! What makes it even worse is that I also have my packed lunch with me as well!
As I walked down to the lovely bakers I was justifying it in my head - today was supposed to me my day off, and am going away this weekend, but a day at work (lovely overtime pennies) means I will be joining everyone later tonight, and I needed cheering up, and a jacket potato and crisps and fruit would never be enough food for the day, ........ and I've run out of excuses now.
Bad bad bad kate!!thank how well you've done so far - remember there are 29 more days in July to not spend
Agree with Soma, kate, you deserve a treat for having to work on your day off.:T
Hope you have a lovely couple of nights away:):):)The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

Welcome to all the newbies - get your mad hats on, its Wimbledon on Sunday! How about meeting about 11 for drinkies then lunch before taking our prime seats on centre court? Pimms anyone?
That sounds like a fine idea to me, jinty. We'll get the Tardis organised to round us all up Sunday morning, Pimms on board, I think as well;);)The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

:jkatholicos: yay, thats brilliant, great start to the month for you.
:jcandyapple: hope you’re feeling better, but well done for no 2 - brilliant!
And hello to everyone else:
jintyb: loving the spendy day but ending up in profit - best of both worlds there!!!!:T
Great news about the tyres being paid for now and OH’s OT, great day all round.
Hope you’re pleased with your hair, had a lovely lunch and enjoyed the tennis despite the result
d3mon4angel: might as well treat yourself if you’ve already spent, better than treating yourself and ruining an NSD - that’s my motto! Hope you enjoyed the KFC!:)
Oops to the bread - have you tried freezing it - it’s always fresh then.
boultdj: grrrrr to your interwebby problems, what a pain:mad::mad:..... Fingers crossed for tomorrow for you:)
Soma: hi, fingers crossed for Sunday for you, love the sound of a day chilling, that sounds great:T
Looloo: oh dear to cheeky offer on your house, that’s not good.....
Hope you managed to avoid the big fat lunch - oh, you didn’t but someone else paid, brilliant!:T
Glad you enjoyed your first month
pure dead dopey: agree re Cheryl, I think she could sort the country out;)...
Oh dear to spendy day today........... fingers crossed for Sunday
Right, Tardis is the mode of transport for Sunday then, stock up the bar elfen
honey: oh dear, I know all about the “cheap week, I don’t need a lot” grocery shopping.
You really are not the only one to realise with a shock how much money you’ve been spending on food - been there myself. I’m cutting back now but still have a way to go. Popping to the shops every couple of days is a disaster, I ration myself to two days maximum a week now, and get everything then, it’s surprising how much you can save doing that, but you need to be organised to do it. Good luck.:)
elfen: good luck with being organised over the weekend - have you filled up the Tardis?;)
rachelmk: oh dear to the bottle of wine:(, better luck tomorrow
anonymoose: love the Manics.....
Sorry you had a bad day at work, hope it improved after a couple of drinkies:)
karenccs67: sorry no NSD, but lovely friend taking you out for lunch
ifwishes: oh dear, and it all started so well:(......
Still, on the bright side, it would have cost you lots more to buy the veg from the supermarket, so that’s a bonus. :T
First NSD not far away, I can feel it in my bones
Nargle: glad you had a lovely day today, fingers crossed for lots of NSDs next week.
See you on centre court on Sunday!:)
LadyfromVenice: oh dear:(..... lots more possible NSDs though, hang on in there
kathy40uk: very organised spending today - well done, definitely the way to get lots of NSDs:T
Oh and NSD no 1 for me too today, off the starting blocks as well:j
Off to do the usual update now, see you all tomorrow.
‘night all

Morning all - posting early as I was too hot lying in bed! Had to get up for a cuppa!
Had a lovely day yesterday, Mum enjoyed her birthday lunch, as did we! Obviously no NSD for me though!
Just been checking my finances, next week will be a challenge, just a wee bit tight moneywise - will have to chat up OH for a sub!
Off to get tyres this morning, then breakfast as a treat!( Out of OT)
I enjoyed the tennis despite the result. I though Andy played very well but Raffa just had that edge. I enjoy watching him too - easy to see why he's no1 in the world! I dont think Andy has anything to be ashamed about, I truly believe he will win Wimbledon eventually - hard to believe he's still only 23!
See you all tomorrow - maybe the Tardis could pick me up Spoon?
Have a lovely day everyone!:)
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -

Thought I had a DD coming out today so took my monthly money out today and bought a naughty Mr T chargrilled chicken & bacon pasta for lunch (Mmmmmmm). Just checked my bank account and no DD , it's due on Monday.
Spolit an NSD for nothing as I wouldn't have had pasta/taken money out if I'd realised.)
Plan is to keep a list of things I need to replace - adding to it when I spot I'm running short of something - so that even on my full days at work (Mon & Tues) I have a list to hand ready to pick up and go. Those days in particular I won't have time to make a list from scratch before work, so I'm hoping this pans out OK
My biggest obstable to gaining NSDs was always checking the Whoopsies as I left work, so I've worked really hard on my 'auto-pilot' taking me out of the store using a route that doesn't pass any Whoopsie sections at all (other than bread/cakes which is right by the staff only door, but as I work right by that I already know what's there)
My next D/Debit would normally be 10th, but as that's a Saturday it'll be the Monday (12th). Got an email for my phone/broadband bill on Thursday, and realised that this is regularly around 11th/12th (12th this month), so that's the date I need to aim for as my next spend day.... seems a looooooong way off though! After that I only get until 15thCheryl0 -

I'm not very good at descriptive work - my English teacher despaired of me - but will try- 'tis sleeveless (but the straps aren't those really narrow shoe-string ones - more of a wide vest type)
- cut straight across back of neck (though has a top button, so there's still an openening a few inches long), and a 'not too deep' V-cut front.
- slight pleat to centre front - both above and below the stitching that attaches the bodice to the skirt - and a couple of darts either side of this in the skirt piece
- has a pocket either side - not in the side seams, but on a slight diagonal just in front of them
- very small 'kick split' in the centre bottom back of the skirt
- bit tricky to put on/take off, as it's a side zip dress (so doesn't fully open for stepping into/pulling over head)
- black with lots of white spots (not tiny, but not big either)
ETA: It's one that could be worn in an office/round town, or dressed up for a night out on the town. Probably not smart enough for 'the Captains table' though, so not quite what 3Dogs is looking for. Still, it was a bargain at £7 (reduced from £14, which I wouldn't have paid for it), especially as it was part of a £25 bundle of clothes I then got to use a £5 off voucher against (so 25% off everything effectively brings the dress down to £5.60 :T)Cheryl0
