    Evening all :)

After 7 hours of motorway driving (I hate the M5 :( ) I am now home and slobbing around in my pjs with an enormous glass of wine. What a stressy journey home - still not quite sure what happened but just outside Bristol everyone slammed on their brakes and the man behind drove straight into the back of my car! Absolutely no marks to be seen on either of our cars but I am always really paranoid on motorways about the car dying so didn't really enjoy the next 4 hours!!
  • Gosh that sounds horrible alex, I'm glad you're alright. glad to have you back and looking forward to hearing all about the road trip :)

I'll be carbooting on Sun (both bootle and aigburth) if you're there I might see you :)

And I have found the two cheapest charity shops in L'pool, banardos in bootle stand, the stock is a bit hit and miss but jeans £1.99, dresses £1.99, shoes £2 - £3 if you're ever up that way might be worth a look. and the other one is in Kirkdale (I think) walton road (again I think) there are about 4 or 5 on the road (the area is a bit scary - sorry if that offends anyone) I can't remember what the shop is called by it's in support of a riding charity, bought a brand pair of dune shoes in the box for £3.95 today, a pair of beautiful salmon brand new sandals for £2, a dress for £2.95 and a pair of river island city shorts for £1.50, very very cheap which makes me smile :)

I might well be at the Aigburth one - need to check the bank balance first though as I may have overspent a tad this week! I'm going for a rummage round the many charity shops in Waterloo tomorrow and will let you know what they're like. They're only 5 mins walk from the train station so would be dead easy for you to get to :) And Walton Road is scary!!

Hiya wigsey - ask away :D

Ta for the welcome, Alexnikov!! :-D

It's actually about engagements and rings but the actual threads on these things discuss hard core things like diamonds, or are people who have a good idea what they want and want further help.

Me, I'm not sure what I want. Never wear jewellery. Got a very low budget - about £100, possible stretch to £150. OH was exasperated and somewhat in disbelief when I asked what Cubic Zircona were (is that the right spelling?). Anyhow. Learnt what they were quite swiftly after that.

So went into H Samuel with OH the other to begin getting ideas. But there is so much!! and so much tat!!! and so much beyond the budget - argh!!!

The bloke in the jewellers suggested nothing with an odd shape (consider the wedding ring) - but then I think, well hell, I'm not planning on marrying for another ten years - I'm not generally into the whole wedding thing, But I want to show my commitment to my OH, and when I'm ready tie the knot in a small discreet fashion, so I'm not sure really if a £100 ring will have a shelf life of 10 years?? when worn constantly I mean...

I prefer silver colour so the guy suggested white gold - but I've since read that that rubs off?

Basically, I'm aware the budget is pretty pathetic for some people, but I'm happy with it, also know I'll not get a great amount, and again I'm not a looking for a diamond. not even sure i really want a rock at all (again there is the price thing)...

I guess as a non-jewellery based girl (who you may have guessed is not very girlie) I wondered if anyone had any tips for thinking about looking, any suggestions on styles etc etc??

The Bloke in H Samuel was of the chocolate fireguard variety in a way - very sullen at my 'disregard' for pretty shiny things

Would a second hand jewellers be cheaper - or not when it comes to such a low price bracket?

    Any thoughts???

    Thanks guys!!
ps I liked your thread as it said no question is silly - I thought: I like this thread!!!!
