Aye I know, I need to move some funds around so I am better organised for stuff like this
thought I was doing well lol but never mind, has to be done.
I will be glad when this month is over me anyway!
I am working this weekend but I hope everyone else has something fun plannedI will be working out what's the best way for me to "keep up the good work" and at the same time have some sort of contigency plan for stuff like this.
I think we don't have anything else coming up but ye never know.

Managed to put a bit back into what i 'borrowed' from another account, plus put some money into my Natwest account to save for food from my food money. i only need a few basics and need to stop spending it unecesarily.
Will need to put some more away for what ive 'borrowed' next month, and will be able to save for other things as well.
thank goodness for overtime , although i feel i still got a lot to learn and it will take a bit to work things out just so with my money.0 -

No, I'm working on Sunday.
Have now received the utility bills, initially thought less than expected. However, after getting the estimated reading adjusted was what I had forecast.
Still stuck on 227/414 for the savings.
Have manged to buy a few small presents for the festive season.
I never buy cards to throw around the office to all and sundry - I buy presents for those that deserve them. My belief is: if you don't have to put any time/effort/thought into an undertaking, then it isn't worth doing in the first place. It may sound harsh, but it is nothing to do with moneysaving, I spend more on presents than others would spend on a box of cards.
Have put my pound on a European football bet this weekend and will let you know the outcome on Monday. For myself I am an optimist - there does not seem to be much use being anything else.

Hello everyone, great to hear about your savings targets and bad luck for everyone having those unexpected bills - it's just a nightmare isn't it. Well I haven't got much to report - like someone else said I am completely broke until pay day (which is still a couple of weeks ago
). However I have enough for food and petrol for the rest of the month so should be fine - just no extra treats!! It's going to be cash all the way. I also have a pedicure booked for Saturday (this is £25 which I have kept the money back for for quite a while) so something to look forward to. Regarding my target for £500 by the end of December, I have started it by managing to save £20 - I know it is only £20 but better than nothing and am least I am off the starting block. When I get paid in September I am going to try and put away at least between £150 - £200 (I did a little bit of overtime last month so this should be about an extra £40). I will then really start to have to think about Christmas.
Good luck saving everyone. Update soon.

By the sound of it almost everyone's kind of skint this month
I think I'll be able to get back on track when I get paid again. I've decided I'll just put £ away for my Xmas fund and try and have around £400 put away for emergencies and instances such as what happened this month.
I did think I should aim any higher but as this really was a one-off and I don't expect it to be a big issue in the future. But as I have decided I will not use the eIsa money unless something absolutely drastic happens I do need to have a bit of a safety net in place if something like this comes up again.
As Xmas is in the way and overtime at work has dried up big time it's unlikely I'll reach this before the end of the year but I think it's a more sensible approach than what I had before.
I am looking forward to sorting out all these bits and pieces so I can then start to focus on "the big one" (aka the eIsa) properly again.
Hoping to reach this before the beginning of the Summer, but only time will tell whether this is feasable (or indeed easy to achieve!).
Anyway, good night

Well, with Bayern and Napoli not managing a win between them I made a total profit of 6p on the football bet
- there is always next week!
Have managed to adjust finances and the savings are now £280/414.
Will have to see what the week brings, but all the bills are paid and I've got a positive feeling about the coming week. For myself I am an optimist - there does not seem to be much use being anything else.

There's a saying that goes along the lines of "don't keep all your eggs in one basket".
Well, all my savings accounts are with the one building society, and I'm considering opening another one with someone else mainly for security reasons, possibly the credit union as they do cheap loans as well (I am not looking for a loan atm, but you never know) though their interest rates are bad.
So I don't know, I also think that I might lose track having too many accounts. So, how many accounts (ideally) do I want? I keep changing my mind about this. Will need to think about this a bit more...

How many accounts?
Well I have the On-line Current Account with the linked saver, still £280/414. These can be accessed at any time.
I suppose it makes it easier that I do not have a specific purpose for the savings so all the money goes into one pot.
The emergency fund, with a different provider, this is only for when my major appliances die and does not get touched, even if I leave myself a little bit short for the month.
And the final one is the gambling account into which I pay 10% of all my winnings: £255 this year, this will fund the annual trip to Cheltenham. The rest of the winnings are spent on bills, presents and treats for myself.
I also have the longer term savings: ISA, NS&I certificate, stocks & shares investment, but these do not need regular attention. For myself I am an optimist - there does not seem to be much use being anything else.

I am engaged! OH asked me last week when we were out for dinner
I was so stunned, but so happy!
This will obviously have a major impact on my savings target, but I will start worrying about it after it's all sunk inInsisti, persisti, raggiungi e conquisti0 -
Congratulations to you both x0
