  • I'm back! Holiday went well, though tan isn't as good as I wished! :D

EC12345 great work! One day, I too shall announce this news lol

fairtrade you are organised! And clarissa62 great news on the Isa. You guys have been busy while I was away :)

So, now that I am back I am ready to tackle this savings thing head on again. I have a trip at the end of Oct/beginning of November, and I initially estimate I'll need £500 (travel expenses being the main problem here) but I need to do some research and price everything over the next few weeks so I can get a more accurate estimate.

I will check my bank balance etc later on (can't find my online banking login details right now!) and will decide on a plan then!

So, all the best until then :)

Hello everyone - great to hear from you.Well today I have written out my £80 cheque and will post it off tomorrow to the building society - I will then have reached my £3,500 target. Like I said before I am now going to just keep this money stashed away and start my new savings target which will start on 24 September. My new target is going to be £500 by the end of December 2010.

Hey Mary, you will reach your target one day - don't worry - and I bet it will be sooner rather than later - just remember every single penny or pound soon adds up.You are doing really well and are keeping everyone on the board motivated to save! Where are you off to in October/November?

Fairtrade - well done with your savings - £134 is a lot of money. I know what you mean about Christmas - it will soon be here. I might start putting an extra £10 away in a pot which mean I will have an extra £40 in December. I know we have loads of cards left over from last year but I know we need wrapping paper this year so I might keep my eyes open and start looking for any bargains. :j

Hope to hear from everyone soon. ECx

:hello:Well another week gone and creeping closer to the target GBP174/200. So, only need another 26pounds to hit target:)
Get paid on Friday 27th so the target will be increased to GBP400:(
Well done EC12345 :T good for you. Clarissa has already reached her first target and I feel sure it won't be too long before the rest of us are sharing good news. Don't worry about the tan Mary it is what is on the inside and not the wrapping that counts.
ShopGirl any tips for the Melbourne Cup? Catch up with you all next weekend, although, I may have to update the savings on Friday.

ive worked out what my bills and general outgoings and budget are then work out what i can save with whats left.
although been doing overtime one day a week for a little while till new staff taken on so the extra money is/should be going stright into savings either way.
feel like many probably do that i could and should be saving more.

Hello UnluckyT:wave:, welcome - the more the merrier.

If you already have your budgets in mind it may be a good idea to check accounts on offer under the Banking/Saving banner at the top of the forum.

    My suggestions,
    Interest paying current account.
Emergency fund - to be able to replace the three appliances you can't live without or other emergencies.
Other savings accounts - for specific purchases like a holiday.
Regular saver - if you can save a fixed amount per month you can generally get a better interest rate.

You need to set your goals, review the accounts available and then keep us posted with your progress. :)
