They had our £500 about 6 months ago and no sign of getting the work done yet.
When we ring the Energy Saving Group they promise to ring back and never do.
Anybody else in same position?0 -
They have had my money for 5 months and I have now been told by the installers I can't have them as the rules have changed and I do not qualify. I have written to get my money back with no luck but I have just found out they have moved there office. I will not let go !!!0

A spokesperson for Energy Saving Group was on radio last week and said there was such a huge take-up with solar panels that the people who are fitting them just cannot keep up.
He said some people have had them fitted, some are being done now and many are still waiting.
We also had a phone call from the fitters last week to arrange an appointment to come and survey so things are moving .... slowly.
I suggested to DH that we ask for our £500 back due to the delay but he says he'd rather wait and get them done.0 -
We also signed up with ESG in September 2010. Lots of excuses about the delay when I phoned and the girl at ESG said someone would phone me back. I am still waiting. We now have a survey date in August, but what then, another 10 months before we see the panels installed? We are going to wait and see because we would rather have the panels than the money back.0

My elderly parents were approached by a door to door rep yesterday and had their sales guy round today - only found out this evening  parents are worse than kids
I don't think they signed up to anything but will be going to sort things out tomorrow.
The company website gives their name as "Energy Saving Group Ltd" but doesn't give a registered address (a legal requirement), company number or VAT number (I think they must have had enough £500's to pass the VAT threshold!)
Looking on companies house' website the only entry for a Energy Saving Group is a telecoms company in Surrey.
I wouldn't touch this with a bargepole, especially as there seem to be offers around similar to this but with no costs to the homeowner0 -
We have had a similar experience to those posted above, Signed up in November 2010, lots of phone calls and emails that you never get a response to, now resorted to letters sent by recorded delivery threatening action in the County Court if I don't get my £500 refunded - but still no response!
I really would like solar PV on my roof but not from this company.0 -
What was the out come, has.anyone had the panels fitted by the energy saving group?

Had the appointment today. Cost is £500 and the rest is funded by government grants, for which anyone is eligible. Cost includes 25 year warranty. Any surplus you generate over and above what you use, you are paid 3p per KwH by the energy companies (fixed rate), it doesn't go to the installers - they make their money from the £500 up front fee and the grant.
It seems the fairest deal on the market to me at the moment, I guess things are changing fast in this area. Any feedback (especially negative) I'd appreciate it as I have 7 days cooling off period anyway.0 -
Lots of people still waiting for Energy Saving Group to do anything, despite having handed over £300 - £500. The principle behind the scheme is perfectly sound - others like EON are running similar rent a roof schemes. I'm in a similar business and we've had a number of complaints about the sales tactics of ESG and their delays.0

Update - we've now had a visit from their electrician and he says that he has refused several properties in the last few days because their roofs must be absolutely South facing and a certain angle to get the solar panels. The requirements have altered since we were first assessed.
He is putting ours through but doubts very much whether it will be accepted (we're SW facing) and says we'll get our £500 back if that's the case. He was a very nice guy and very thorough indeed and showed us maps and charts of areas in the country and it looks like if you live anywhere North of the Fens/Midlands you won't get it whatever!
My gut feeling is that they have just had a massive interest in this offer and they're chasing their tails trying to get round to everyone. Now the criteria has changed because obviously they want to make max. money from installing these.
Will update if we hear any more.0 -

A friend of mine is having EON to assess their roof for panels and I believe their deal is £50.0
