Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -
I made soup last week with two brocolli stumps and very nice it was too! I sweated an onion in a little butter with a bendy stalk off celery, chopped the stumps and added them and simmered in some home made chicken stock, gave it a whizz in the blender and that was it. Yummy.Away with the fairies.... Back soon0

If you go for the stilton one... both Tesco and Sainsbury do a value stilton that's good enough for soup, and you can freeze whatever you don't use (either the cheese, or if you're making a load of soup, that freezes and re-heats well).TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

Oh I never ever throw away the stalks! I chop them smallish and cook them as an ordinary vegetable, usually mixing them with the rest of the broccoli.
So much perfectly good food is wasted. I once knew a woman who peeled courgetts, so that the most nutritions part of it was discarded. :rolleyes:Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

I know, I couldn't believe that my housemate was going to throw them away - they're pretty big and it seemed like such a waste, especially after I've been reading lots on here. And peeling courgettes? the skin is the best part!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I either eat them raw, or chop them and cook with the broccoli.
We have an older thread on this subject; I'll add yours to it to keep all suggetsions together.

I advise caution in eating raw brassica - ie. broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, brussel sprouts etc - as raw brassica blocks iodine uptake by the thyroid gland. Cooking destroys this property however.
That said, if you only eat it sparingly, it's not much of a worry.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0
