Our local Morrisons sometimes sell used Black Flower Buckets.
They are taped together in bundles of about 7 or 8 usually about £1
Ours are near the Cut Flowers,if you dont see any its worth asking.
Dont forget to put drainage holes in them.

I got some of these last year. I'll defiantely be looking out for more this year as similar sized pot cost about £2-3 from a garden centre.

Theoretically there is a perfect possibility of happiness: believing in the indestructible element in oneself and not striving towards it
  • Just a few pointers in case anyone is interested:

If you are looking for freebies for the garden, then Starbucks may be a decent place to start. You can pick up used coffee grounds in store which you can use as a mulch, especially good for nitrogen loving plants. I'm told the smell is supposed to keep the slugs at bay, but I haven't seen much evidence of this

As far as bargains go, Woolworths is a good place to look at currently. In the sale part I picked up a set of wilkinson pruners, gloves and twine for £3.50. Also (at the Gloucester store) they have started getting the garden wares out and have fruit bushes for a couple of quid. They also had some fruit trees but I didn't see how much they were.

And finally, one of my top buys last year was a plastic cold frame from poundstretcher for about a tenner. I've used it to grow numerous things and have used it to overwinter a few things.

I've just been thinking about this one- the best idea to get clear plastic for ( next to ) nothing- place an advert in your local paper / free adds- wanting off cuts from perspex sheets, or if there's a local sign company you could always give them a try.

Poundland have got their Roses, Redcurrants, Gooseberries, Blueberries and Raspberries in little boxes now, as well as packets of various herbaceous plants.
My Mind wanders, if found please return.
