God knows - must have been half asleep when I looked at the original pic but that doesn't change the fact that recycled fittings have been used (:naughty:) nor does it lessen the chance of a burst if an insert and copper olive weren't used on the joint to the plastic.

    Cheers

I wouldn't of put compression joint in anyway.

Not in a bathroom or in fact anywhere if possible.

He should of cut the olives off & used 2 couplers & end feed tees if he was worried about waste.

But judging by the scrap he wasn't bothered about waste.

Let alone a leak at a later time underneath a bath that has already been leaking......

Yep and he's used new pipe which is the correct thing to do. At least there isn't three miles of PTFE tape around the threads! But those joints are, IMHO, a future liability.

I dont think he needed all that pipe.

    Have you seen the waste?

By the way. There is no olive on the plastic pipe. The nut has screwed on too far for there to be one.

Its unprofessional to reuse pipe and fittings either from this or a previous job. I grant that a DIYer will reuse material where he can to save money but a pro should not.

Indeed but at todays prices theres no more than a couple of bobsworth there at the scrappy.

Difficult to tell and thats my point. If theres no insert then the pipe is easily crushed so the nut will go on a long way. If he's used a brass olive it will have cut into the pipe and the nut can be graunched down to as far as you like without meeting much resistance. So it could easily loook as there is no olive. How effective and watertight the joint is though - can't tell from here.

    Fittings yes.

    Pipe. No.

Nothing wrong with some of that pipe on the floor.

& by the way, if you look at the pipe he has put on some of that is either used or has been contaminated already.

Sorry can't agree but I'm sure we can agree to disagree. Too many little scrappy bits which would mean a pile more joints depending on how much he had to replace to get sensible pipe runs. Minimum number of joint = minimum chance of a leak. There clearly has been a reorganisation of the piping.

Yes - looks a little like its been handled with "fluxy fingers" to me. However, we can't see beyond it so don't know whats there.

I'm afraid that, between us, we've probably ruined the OPs day on this one wholesale.
