no it was supposed to be a perfect scone for a cream tea in yesterdays Mail
here's the ingredients - see what you think

4oz SR flour, 1oz unsalted butter, 1oz caster sugar, pinch baking powder and 71/2 oz milk or water.
it said it would make 16 scones with a 2 1/2" cutter.
I didn't add all the liquid and mine was very runny so I made some more mixture and added it to get the right consistency.

they were perfectly edible but not as nice looking as usual and I only got about a dozen small ones(with 8oz flour)
do you think it was a missprint?

Definitely, with that amount of flour it should be 2 1/2 oz of fluid, my scones are 8 flour 2 butter 1 sugar 5 fluid. 16 in total.

At least you could fix it, there are people out there who would have wasted the ingredients, which would have made me mad!:rotfl:

    Afternoon all

Just a quick post as I am at work and break nearly over but got to say that you have inspired me to make a start on my diet again. I did low carb (Atkins) a couple of years ago, and lost 2 and half stones, but have put it back on and lots more besides.

I am going to go to the supermarket after work and get stocked up - my trouble is always what to have for breakfast as I don't have time to cook on a morning as I start work at 6.45 ish -any suggestions gratefully received.

Pasta for tea tonight though as I had already meal planned that, with salmon, creme fraiche and peas - better make the most of it as that is going to be the last pasta I have for a while lol:rotfl:

My biggest problem is after 10 yeras of living somewhere with new MrT or Mr S etc I now have Mr A about a mile from me lol I think security must have me earmarked as a shoplifter I am there so often . Yesterday staff where acually saying hello, not in a " lets say hello to everyone way " but " hello, we know you " way lol I am going to try and limit Asda to every second day as believe it or not it is my closest shop even for bread and milk.

The lovely lady at the Fastrack at my local sainsbugs knows my kids names :o:o A sign perhaps I go there too often?!

Busy morning. Just finished cleaning upstairs - hadn't been done for well over 2 weeks :o Just got the tennis on - jeez does Venus HAVE to grunt so loud! Does she win my virtue of putting off her opponent ;)
DS being very challenging last few days. I veer from wanting to throttle him to feeling quite tearful :o He's testing me all the time and I feel like I am constantly moaning. Then H comes home and it's all smiles etc for him - I always feel like the bad guy :o

Anyway enough moaning I think you hear enough of that from me as it is.
Tea tonight - no idea. I just can't get into meal planning at the moment, it's just too hot and I can't be bothered to cook :o I am such a winter person it's untrue :rotfl:
Not much OS other than cleaning going on - shame on me.
Bought DD a lovely card from Folksy - I love that site :D Going to have another nose on there in a mo.

Penpin - sorry to hear they want you back in hospital. Glad to see that your DD is having a good time xxx

Tiredmum - I hope the powers that be agree to your request for CCTV xx

Welcome to Doelani and Marchio :D

Sorry for anyone else I've missed - hugs for those that need them. Have a good afternoon.

Oh Venus has just lost - thank goodness no more grunting LOL!

    Hello all!

I hope you don't mind if I join in :) I've been meaning to for a while now, I just never got around to it.

A few weeks ago, all my old-styling was really coming together (everyone on this forum has been a huge inspiration to me - so thanks!). It all went to pot when my Dad had a brain hemorrhage - and I've spent the last few weeks working from his house while I look after him while he recovers. Thank god I have the kind of job where I can work from anywhere providing I have my laptop and an internet connection!

Anyways, medical drama aside, I feel like I'm falling back into my old non-oldstyle-expensive habits, and I needed some encouragement to get back into them, even while I'm living at my fathers house for 10 days out of 14!

So - any suggestions on the quick things I can do over a weekend (or even a day!) will be the kick up the bum I need, methinks! Everything is sliding, and I'm trying to keep myself busy on my downtime! :o

    *edit*

Not quite an oldstyle recipe (actually, I got it out of Delicious magazine), but I've decided to make a Pepperoni and 4 cheese lasagne for my own and my fathers dinner tonight. Except it's going to be chorizo instead of pepperoni, as my local tesco deli decided to not sell pepperoni anymore. It's a tasty one, good for freezing and batch cooking, so I figured I'd share it here:

    Serves 6.

    Ingredients:

    1 tbsp Olive Oil
    1 Onion, diced
    2 garlic cloves, chopped
    250 pepperoni, sliced
    2 tbsp red wine vinegar
    2 x 400g cans cherry tomatoes
    1 tsp caster sugar
    1 tbsp chopped oregano
    Handful of shredded basil leaves
    2 x 125g mozzarella balls, shredded
    60g Cheddar, grated
175g blue cheese, grated/shredded (I like gorgonzola for this)
    50 grated parmesan
    12 (330g) lasagne sheets

    How to:

Fry the garlic and onion over a low heat in the olive oil for 10 mins (until soft). Add the pepperoni and fry for 2-3 minutes.

Increase the heat, add the red wine vinegar, then stir in the tomatoes, sugar, oregano, and 200ml water. Bring to the boil, season, then simmer gently for 15-20 minutes until the sauce has thickened. Stir in the shredded basil leaves. Mix all the cheeses together in a bowl.

Spead half of the sauce over the base of a 2 litre oven proof dish. Top with a layer of lasagne sheets and scatter over half of the mixed cheeses. Repeat the layers, finishing with the cheese. At this stage, you can cool, wrap in cling film, and freeze for up to 3 months.

To cook it from frozen : preheat the oven to 180c/fan 160c/gas 4. Bake for 1 hour or until bubbling around the edges.

Reheats well (providing you didn't cook from frozen for safety reasons)
This is not an automated signature - I type this after every post.

Have to own up that I haven't actually watched any ladies matches this year at all - I only caught that on the round-up after Andy Murray's match last night :o I much prefer the men too! Did you see Djokovic doing his Hulk impersonation & ripping his shirt off? :D
